North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week 

Baseball, Player of the Week – Patrick O'Leary, Kenyon

Kenyon’s Patrick O’Leary (Killingsworth, CT/Choate) produced 13 hits and a .520 batting average across six games and 25 at-bats last week for the Lords. The junior scored eight runs and tallied at least one run in all six games. He batted in nine runners and had six extra-base hits including two doubles, two triples and two home runs. The Lords went 5-1 on the week and improved to 11-4 on the season.

Baseball, Pitcher of the Week – Grant Rademacher, DePauw

DePauw’s Grant Rademacher (Munster, IN/Munster) threw seven no-hit innings in a 12-1 victory over Calvin. The senior recorded 11 strikeouts while walking none en route to earning his second pitching victory of the season.

Softball, Player of the Week – Grace Randall, Wooster

First-year Grace Randall (Akron, OH/Green) led Wooster through its first 10 games of its spring break trip with a .467 average (14-for-30). Randall hit safely in nine of the ten games and also recorded five RBI, four doubles and scored five runs. She also sports a .515 on base percentage.

Softball, Pitcher of the Week – Cami Henry, DePauw

Cami Henry (Camby, IN/Mooresville) picked up three victories and a save for the Tigers last week. The freshman pitched two complete games against Washington (MO) (W, 5-1) and Wartburg (W, 9-2), striking out 33 batters, an average of 11.55 per seven innings. She also picked up a save in a 5-4 victory over Washington (MO).

Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week – Jack Richey, DePauw 

DePauw’s Jack Richey (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) tallied four goals on six shots in the Tigers first victory of the season, 8-4 at Elmhurst. Richey also picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover for DePauw.

Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week – Sloane Baumgartner, Ohio Wesleyan

Ohio Wesleyan’s Sloane Baumgartner (Naperville, IL/St. Francis) helped the Battling Bishops record three victories last week on the west coast. Baumgartner tallied five goals in an 11-6 victory at Puget Sound, four goals in a 17-4 win at Pacific (OR) and seven goals in a 15-9 victory at Linfield. Ohio Wesleyan has won five games in-a-row, its longest streak since 2008. 

Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week – Nicholas Paolucci, Kenyon

Nicholas Paolucci (Grosse Pointe, MI/South)
picked up six victories last week for the Lords. He notched singles victories against Amherst’s Kevin Ma (6-1, 6-2), Case Western’s Aaron Umen (7-6, 7-6) and Millsaps’ Josh Shearin (6-3, 6-0). He also helped record doubles victories against each of those opponents. Paolucci elevated his singles record to 12-3 and his doubles record to 11-5 on the season.

Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Daria Beshentseva, Kenyon

Kenyon’s Daria Beshentseva (Moscow, Russia/Lyceum 1535) had a perfect 6-0 week across singles and doubles play in the Ladies victories over Washington (MO), Washington & Lee and Mary Washington. In singles play, she defeated Washington’s (MO) Stephani Ren (6-3, 6-2), Washington & Lee’s Danielle Mirabella (6-4, 6-2) and Mary Washington’s Lily Horsley (6-4, 7-5).

Men's Golf Athletes of the Week – Eric Lifson, Kenyon

Eric Lifson (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) finished the three-day Jekyll Island Collegiate Invite as the Lords’ team leader in scoring. He carded rounds of 72, 70 and 76 for a total of 218. That put him in an individual tie for 22nd place within the field of 150 golfers. He also finished tied for 31st  out of 103 athletes in the Adidas Intercollegiate after recording rounds of 79, 72 and 79 for a total of 230. 

Women's Golf Athlete of the Week – Brittany Miller, Ohio Wesleyan

Ohio Wesleyan’s Brittany Miller (Lewis Center, OH/Olentangy Orange) tied for 15th among 43 golfers with a 176 (89-87) at the Adidas Intercollegiate Invite. At BrownGolf Intercollegiate, she tied her career-best round with an 84 in the first round, then shot career-low 83 in the second round to finish at 147 and in seventh place. The seventh-place finish was her career best in a tournament setting.

Men's Outdoor Track, Distance/Middle Distance Athlete of the Week – David Westcott, Wooster

Wooster senior David Westcott (Lake Forest, IL/Millbrook (N.Y.)) opened his outdoor season with a career-best time of 9:18.36 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Westcott’s previous career-best in the event was 9:34.21, which came at last year’s Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace University. Westcott’s time is the second-best in Div. III as of Saturday night.

Men's Outdoor Track, Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Luke Patty, DePauw

Luke Patty (Chillicothe, IL/Illinois Valley Central) recorded two first-place finishes at the Rose-Hulman Earlly Bird Meet. Patty broke the tape in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.23 seconds and posted a 50.79-second time in the 400-meter dash. Both times were the best among all NCAC athletes so far this season.

Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – D'Anthony Dorsey, Wittenberg

D’Anthony Dorsey (Winter Haven, FL/Lakeland) posted a first-place finish in the hammer throw (49.24 meters) and a third-place finish in the shot put (12.33m) at the Muskie Duals. Dorsey’s 49.24-meter heave in the hammer throw was the top performance this season among conference athletes. 

Women's Outdoor Track, Distance/Middle Distance Athlete of the Week – Alexis Gray, Wittenberg

Wittenberg’s Alexis Gray (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Court House) broke the tape first in the 800-meter run at the Muskie Duals. Gray’s time of 2:24.48 was the fastest among conference athletes so far this season.

Women's Outdoor Track, Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Marteana Newton, Wittenberg

Wittenberg sophomore Marteana Newton (N/A) turned in a meet-winning time of 1:00.68 in the 400-meter dash at the Muskie Duals. The winning time was the best among conference athletes so far this season.

Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Anna Vrancken, Denison

In the hammer throw at the Muskie Duals, sophomore Anna Vrancken (Galena, OH/Big Walnut) recorded a new personal best on a throw of 39.89 meters to finish second overall. She also finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 34.37 meters and fifth in the shot put with a 10.22-meter throw. Her hammer throw and discus marks are the best among confernece athletes so far this season.


NCAC Milestones & Records (Mar. 11 - Mar. 17)

Wooster, Softball - Wooster junior Marina Roski (Diamond Bar, CA/Diamond Ranch) clubbed her 11th career home run on Sunday. She’s now tied with Maria Gonzalez (2004-07) for the most in program history.

Ohio Wesleyan, Men’s Lacrosse - Senior attacker Max Tennant (Englewood, CO/Cherry Creek) led the Bishops with four goals at sixth-ranked Cabrini. The four goals raised his career total to 201, making him the second Ohio Wesleyan men’s lacrosse player to surpass the 200-goal mark.

Ohio Wesleyan, Women’s Lacrosse - Sophomore attacker Megan McElgunn (Cohasset, MA/Cohasset) led the Bishops with eight goals and two assists against Pacific. The eight goals tied for second place on the Bishop single-game list, while the 10 points tied for fifth place.

Ohio Wesleyan, Women’s Lacrosse - Junior attacker Sloane Baumgartner (Naperville, IL/St. Francis) led the Bishops with seven goals at Linfield. The seven goals are tied for fifth place on the OWU single-game list.

Kenyon, Women’s Tennis - Assistant Kenyon Women’s Tennis Coach Maddie Kobelt directed the Ladies to a pair of victories over ranked opponents at the Mary Washington invitational this past weekend, the first in her Kenyon coaching career.
