North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week – Sept. 30

Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Cole Martin, DePauw

DePauw senior Cole Martin (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) broke the tape among 274 runners in the gold division of the Loyola University Lakefront Invitational. Martin finished the 8k course in 25:57.85, helping the Tigers finish seventh out of 31 teams.


Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Emma Becker, Kenyon

Kenyon sophomore Emma Becker (Rocky River, OH/Magnificat) finished 12th overall in a field of 282 runners at Saturday’s All-Ohio Cross Championship held at Cedarville University’s Elvin R. King course. She completed the 6K run in a time of 22:44.1, finishing as the top Division III runner at the meet.


Field Hockey Athlete of the Week – Vivian Super, Allegheny

Allegheny freshman Vivian Super (Granville, OH/Granville) tallied two goals and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Ferrum on Sunday. The win was the first in program history for the Gator field hockey team. Super’s pair of goals were also the first multi-goal performance in Allegheny history.


Offensive Football Athlete of the Week – Liam Thompson, Wabash

Wabash freshman quarterback Liam Thompson (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) led the Little Giants to a 34-20 victory over Denison. He completed 18-of-23 pass attempts for a career-high 311 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, posting the first 300-yard passing game for Wabash since 2016. Thompson added a third touchdown on the ground with a 50-yard run for a score in the first quarter to give Wabash a 7-3 lead. 


Defensive Football Athlete of the Week – Kyle Hogan, Ohio Wesleyan

Ohio Wesleyan senior Kyle Hogan (Centerburg, OH/Centerburg) led the Battling Bishops with nine tackles, including two sacks and three for loss. Hogan also forced and recovered a fumble at the OWU 12-yard line on the opening possession of game. His defensive performance helped Ohio Wesleyan to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 2012 season.


Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week – Evan Ferrara, Wooster

Wooster senior Evan Ferrara (Kent, OH/Roosevelt) logged his third top-five finish of the fall on Sunday. The Scots’ No. 1 fired a 75 to finish in third-place at the Baldwin Wallace Fall Invitational. The Scots finished third overall at the tournament. 


Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week – Alexis Reichardt, Ohio Wesleyan

Ohio Wesleyan senior Alexis Reichardt (Waldo, OH/River Valley) led the Bishops at the Blue Devil Classic, hosted by Lawrence Tech. Reichardt turned in rounds of 81 and 82 to tie for for 13th place with a 163. 


Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week – Chad Wunderlich, Wabash

Wabash junior goalie Chad Wunderlich (St. Louis, MO/John Burroughs School) recorded seven saves in the Little Giants’ 3-0 victory over Wooster Saturday. He faced a total of ten shot attempts including the seven shots on goal. Wunderlich picked up his third complete-game shutout of the season and fourth overall for Wabash. He ranks third all-time in Wabash soccer history with 16 career shutouts.


Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week – Abby King, Denison

Denison sophomore Abby King (Grosse Ile, MI/Western Reserve Academy) registered a game-winning goal and assist in a 2-0 victory against Capital before adding another goal in a 2-0 victory against Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday. 


Women’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week – Morgan Stearley, DePauw

DePauw senior Morgan Stearley (Center Point, IN/Northview) posted two double-doubles against Rose-Hulman and Hiram last week as the Tigers went a perfect 3-0 on the week. Stearley notched 55 kills, 32 digs and a .350 hitting percentage in 10 sets for the Tigers. The senior averaged six points, 5.5 kills and 3.2 digs per set, while also adding five blocks and two service aces.

 


 

NCAC Milestones & Records (Sept. 23 - Sept. 29)

Allegheny, Football - Senior wide receiver Alex Victor (Miami, FL/G. Holmes Braddock) broke the career receptions record on Saturday as he had 12 catches for 88 yards, giving him 169 receptions and passing the previous mark of 167 that had stood since 2003.

Allegheny, Field Hockey - The Allegheny field hockey team posted its first program victory, defeating Ferrum, 4-0, on Sunday in Meadville, PA.

Ohio Wesleyan, Volleyball - Junior defensive specialist Meghan Schwallie (Crystal Lake, IL/Marian Central Catholic) finished with a team-high 11 digs in the Bishops’ NCAC opener at Wooster, raising her career total to 1003 and making her the 12th Ohio Wesleyan player in the libero era to surpass the 1000-dig mark.
