Kenyon sophomore Sarah Metzmaier was joined by Denison junior Abby Scully and Big Red sophomore Rachel Kelsey as the Players of the Year to highlight the 2019 All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey selections.
ROCHESTER, NY -- The Denison Field Hockey team had its season extended with a 2-1 victory over Rochester in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 13. With the victory, the Big Red advance to play Tufts on Saturday, Nov. 16 (2 p.m.) in Baltimore, MD.
Kenyon received the NCAC's automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. The Lords will make their seventh-consecutive appearance in the national tournament, and 16th overall. The Battling Bishops have earned an at-large bid into the national tournament and will make their 41st NCAA appearance. Kenyon owns a 21-14-2 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament, while Ohio Wesleyan is 64-35-6 on the national stage.
As NCAC Tournament champions, the Fighting Scots earned the conference's automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer tournament for the second-consecutive season and will make their third overall appearance. Wooster will open play with a first-round game against No. 21 Case Western Reserve at Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL) on Friday, November 15, at 2:30 p.m. The Spartans (13-5), making their second appearance in the national tournament, earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. Wooster and Case have met 35 times all-time, with the Spartans claiming a 1-0 overtime win during their last matchup in 2018. Case holds a 16-13-6 advantage over the Fighting Scots. The winner of the Wooster vs. Case first-round contest will move on to face the winner of the No. 6 Wheaton (IL) and Webster match.
DePauw received the NCAC's automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. The Tigers will make their fourth-straight appearance in the national tournament, ninth overall. Wittenberg (15-11) has earned an at-large bid into the national tournament and will make its 24th-straight NCAA appearance, 25th overall.
DePauw senior right side Morgan Stearley (Center Point, IN/Northview) has been named the Player of the Year, while Wittenberg senior Taylor Yontz (Springfield, OH/Shawnee) repeats as the Libero of the Year to highlight the 2019 All-North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball selections.
Ohio Wesleyan junior Ashley Smiley (Delaware, OH/Hayes) and Wooster senior Mackenzie Goltz (Muskegon, MI/Reeths Puffer) were voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday. Both individuals now move on to the ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
CARMEL, IN - Oberlin captured the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Yeowomen finished with a total of 36 points to claim their second-consecutive NCAC title.
