The North Coast Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has named its Executive Committee for the 2020-21 school year.
Kenyon junior Clare Kelley (Rocky River, OH/Rocky River), a political science major, philosophy minor and three-year member of the women’s basketball team, has been appointed as the NCAC SAAC Executive Committee President. Ariel Loevy (Wayne, PA/Conestoga), a sophomore on the Denison women’s soccer team who is a biology major with a minor in chemistry, will serve as the Vice President, while DePauw field hockey player Christina Bourantas (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Christian School), a Physics major, has been selected as the Secretary.
Earlier in the year, Allegheny junior men’s soccer player Owen Harkins (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley), a geology major with a minor in economics, was appointed the NCAC’s national SAAC associate member. Harkins will serve as the NCAC’s representative to the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The NCAC is a partner conference with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and will be represented by Bluffton junior Abigail Newkirk, who serves as the NCAC/HCAC national representative.
The NCAC SAAC serves as the voice of student-athletes who represent the conference’s 10 member institutions. Those involved provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAC member campuses. The SAAC serves as a conduit of communication among student-athletes, coaches, and athletics administrators on issues to improve the student-athlete experience and promote growth and education through sports participation. Concerns can be voiced, and solutions offered regarding any issues relevant to NCAA student-athletes.
