CLEVELAND --
Wooster senior second baseman Matt Johnson (Orrville, OH/Orrville) and Allegheny senior righthander Matt Dishong (Venetia, PA/Ringgold) have been named Player and Pitcher of the Year to highlight the 2010 All-North Coast Athletic Conference baseball selections.

Johnson makes his debut on the All-NCAC first team. This season, he hit .463 (76-164) with 11 home runs, seven triples, 14 doubles, 39 runs batted in and 67 runs scored. He led in the North Coast in runs scored (61), hits (76) and total bases (137). Johnson was an honorable mention selection in 2008.

Dishong makes his debut on the All-NCAC team as a member of the first team. He dominated hitters with an 5-3 record and a 2.65 earned-run average. He struck out a league-best 72 batters in 68.0 innings pitched and allowed opposing batters a .238 average.

Three players make repeat appearances on the first team: Wooster senior first baseman Matt Groezinger (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) is a member of the top squad for the third straight season. Juniors Zach Frentsos (Delaware, OH/Hayes) of Ohio Wesleyan and Justin McDowell (Willard, OH/Willard) of Wooster each earn their second straight first-team nods.

Kenyon freshman pitcher Tyler Dierke (Hudson, WI/Hudson) was named Newcomer of the Year after posting a 6-1 record with a 2.92 earned-run average in his rookie campaign. He earned first team All-NCAC honors as well.

Wooster's Tim Pettorini earned Coach of the Year honors for the eighth time after leading the Fighting Scots to a 34-7 record and their second consecutive, 13th overall, North Coast Conference crown. He is 953-339-6 (.738) in 29 years at the helm.
