IOA CREW EARNS 2006 STAGG BOWL ASSIGNMENT

CLEVELAND -- The Intercollegiate Officiating was tabbed to provide the officials for the 2006 Amos Alonso Stagg Bowl, the championship game for NCAA Division III football.

The crew, pictured to the right, was made up of some of the IOA's top officials (from left): Ed Moses, Mark Valentine, John Evans, Tom Siewiorek, Kevin Szink, Bob Sutyak and Doug Warns.

This was the third time a contingent from the IOA worked the championship. It also fielded a crew for the 1992 game - the first year of the IOA - as well as for the 1995 event.

Mt. Union defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater, 35-16, to earn its second straight, and ninth overall, national title.

The Intercollegiate Officiating Association was founded in 1991 as a means to take control of officiating needs in football and men's and women's basketball and to enhance the opportunities for current and upcoming collegiate game officials. The IOA began service to its membership in the 1992-93 academic year; the 2006-2007 academic year marks its 15th year of continual service. Currently, the IOA enjoys the membership of 24: the 10 NCAC conference members located in the states of Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania, the eight Presidents Athletic Conference members in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and six subscribers, located in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
