NCAC'S COLLINS NAMED TO PIGSKIN CLASSIC GAMES COMMITTEE;
OHIO STATE HOSTS TEXAS TECH ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 24

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- There will be a strong representation from Westlake when Ohio State and Texas Tech kickoff the college football season Saturday afternoon in Columbus.

Dennis Collins, the Executive Director of the Westlake-based North Coast Athletic Conference, the collegiate conference of 10 Division III colleges stretching from Pennsylvania to Indiana, has been named to the Pigskin Classic Games Committee, which features OSU and Texas Tech in this first game of the season.

The members of the Games Committee are charged with observing all operations of the game making a report to the Game’s sponsor.

The official sponsor of the Pigskin Classic is another Westlake-based organization, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, headed by Michael Cleary.

NACDA has been the sponsor of the Kickoff Classic preseason game for the last 20 years and the Pigskin Classic preseason game for the last 12 years. This is the final year for both of these exempted games, as NCAA legislation ends the preseason exemption, but gave each Division I-A football member an additional 12th game, beginning this year.

Founded in 1983, the North Coast Athletic Conference consists of 10 academically selective colleges and universities - Allegheny College, Denison University, Earlham College, Hiram College, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Wabash College, Wittenberg University and the College of Wooster. The NCAC sponsors 22 championship sports, 11 for men and 11 for women.
