Ohio Wesleyan senior Kyle Hogan (Centerburg, OH/Centerburg) and Wabash junior Patrick Kelly (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) were tabbed to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Hogan was named to the Team of the Week as a defensive end. The senior led the Battling Bishops with nine tackles, including two sacks and three for loss, Saturday against Allegheny. Hogan also forced and recovered a fumble at the OWU 12-yard line on the opening possession of game. His defensive performance helped Ohio Wesleyan to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 2012 season.
Kelly was selected to the team at the cornerback position. He intercepted two passes in Saturday’s game against Denison, the first coming after the Big Red had taken a 17-13 lead in the third quarter. His second interception took place as Denison was driving with 2:55 remaining in the game, Wabash leading 27-20. Kelly also finished the game with four tackles including three solo efforts.
The D3football.com Team of the Week is in its 21st season of honoring the top player nationally at each position from the previous week. Hogan and Kelly join Kenyon tight end Matt Joliffe (Warren, MI/Cousino) as Team of the Week selections this season.
