DePauw continues to impress as the Tigers have now won seven straight contests and own a perfect 6-0 mark in conference action. This week features five NCAC matches, including DePauw which will put its perfect conference record on the line at Wittenberg on Saturday.
DENISON improved to 7-1 on the season and 5-1 in NCAC action after posting a pair of league victories over Wooster, 5-1, and Kenyon, 3-1, last week. Big Red senior Katie McMahon (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) recorded four goals, including a natural hat-trick in DU’s win over the Fighting Scots. Alex Berman (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) also logged two goals last week. Senior goalie Laura Campbell (Louisville, KY/Kentucky Country Day) went 2-0 on the week after making eight saves in cage.
DEPAUW has won seven straight games overall and 20 consecutive regular season North Coast contests after wins last week against Earlham, Ohio Wesleyan and SAA foe Rhodes. DePauw’s 11 goals against Earlham were a school record and just one shy of tying the NCAC mark.
EARLHAM dropped a pair of North Coast contests last week, falling to DePauw, 11-0, before a, 4-0, setback against Wittenberg on Saturday.
KENYON split a pair of NCAC games this past week. The Ladies dropped a 3-1 decision at Denison on Saturday and then returned home Sunday to post a 6-2 win over Oberlin. Sophomore midfielder Hannah Drake (Philadelphia, PA/Germantown Friends) had a goal and an assist in the win.
OBERLIN dropped two contests this weekend, and has fallen to 2-7 on the season. Junior goalkeeper Carmen Azevedo (Durham, CA/Chico) made 14 saves in the two contests, including 12 in the losing effort against Kenyon. First-year Olivia DeToma (Medway, MA/Medway) scored two goals in the loss at Wooster and classmate Ariana Enzerink (Davis, CA/Davis Senior) scored her fifth goal of the season in the loss at Kenyon.
Freshman midfielder Cheyenne Gibbons (Tallmadge, OH/Western Reserve Academy) scored the game’s only goal, giving OHIO WESLEYAN an NCAC win over Wittenberg. Gibbons scored an unassisted goal with 10:54 left in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Karson Stevenson (Aurora, CO/Grandview) preserved the lead with a pair of saves during the final five minutes of regulation time. Stevenson finished with four saves.
After a tough 1-0 home loss to Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, WITTENBERG turned things around for a 4-0 road win against Earlham the next morning. Junior Beth Warning (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame) paced the offense with one goal and two assists in the win, backed up by junior Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, KY/Ballard) who tallied one goal and one assist.
WOOSTER put together a 2-1 record last week to improve to .500 on the year after wins over conference foe Oberlin and non-conference opponent Transylvania. Junior forward Taylor Thorp (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) scored one goal in each of Wooster’s three games. She cut Denison’s lead to 4-1, tied the game with Oberlin at 2-2 and put the final touches on the Scots’ 4-2 victory over Transylvania.
