Kenyon (10-2, 7-1) bounced back from its first conference loss of the season to collect a pair of NCAC victories last week and become the first squad to reach seven league wins. A full slate of NCAC contests continue this week, highlighted by DePauw (10-1, 6-1) hosting Kenyon and Denison (6-3, 6-1) next weekend.
DENISON shut out Oberlin in the Big Red’s lone contest of the week by a margin of 9-0. The win marked DU’s third shutout of the season. Junior Elsie Humes (Greenwood Village, CO/Cherry Creek) scored a career-best four goals, including a natural hat trick in the first half to power the Big Red offense. Freshman Chloe Dikeou (Denver, CO/Kent Denver) added two goals and an assist, while junior Britta Marden (Belmont, MA/Belmont) assisted on two of Humes’ third and fourth scores.
17th-ranked DEPAUW extended its win streak to six with a 6-2 win over Wittenberg on Saturday. Maggie Campbell (Winnetka, IL/New Trier), Kate Jovanovic (St. Charles, MO/Barat Academy) and Paige Henry (Louisville, KY/Kentucky Country Day) each scored two goals in the win. Henry leads the Tigers with 11 goals and shares the team lead with five assists with Campbell.
EARLHAM dropped a pair of contests last week, falling to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday and Sewanee on Saturday. Kaitlyn Brunner (Aurora, CO/Cherokee Trail) scored the Quaker’s lone goal with an assist from Megan Hut (Tiel, Netherlands/RSG Lingcollege) in the loss to OWU on Wednesday.
KENYON rattled off another pair of NCAC wins and ran its overall record to 10-2. The Ladies traveled to Wooster on Thursday and came home with a 4-1 win. Saturday, the Ladies hosted Ohio Wesleyan and sent the Bishop packing with a 4-0 defeat. Junior midfielder Maddie Breschi (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) notched two goals in the Ladies’ win over Ohio Wesleyan.
OBERLIN went down 9-0 to the Denison last Friday night, moving them to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in the NCAC. Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Gossiaux (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) added 23 saves to her nation-leading total of 161. No shots were recorded by the Yeowomen but junior midfielder Kendra Lian (Granville, OH/Granville) tallied two defensive saves against the Big Red.
OHIO WESLEYAN posted a 2-1 recod last week, defeating Earlham and Bethany, with the lone loss coming against Kenyon. Sophomore midfielder Cheyenne Gibbons (Tallmadge, OH/Western Reserve Academy) led the Bishops on the week with two goals and one assist for five toal points, including the game-winner against Earlham and setting up the game-winning goal against Bethany.
WITTENBERG lost 6-2 against DePauw in its only action last week, as senior Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, KY/Ballard) scored and freshman Maddie Goelz (Worthington, OH/Thomas Worthington) earned her first collegiate goal.
WOOSTER held a 1-0 lead on first-place Kenyon for 20 minutes, but ultimately lost 4-1 during its lone action of the week. Senior midfielder Shelby Stone (Grosse Pointe Park, MI/Grosse Pointe Park South) scored her first career goal 12:36 into Thursday’s action, giving the Scots the early lead.
