Kenyon (16-1-0, 12-1-0), DePauw (14-4-0, 12-1-0), Denison (11-6-0, 9-4-0) and Wittenberg (9-9-0, 7-6-0) have all earned spots in the 2014 NCAC Field Hockey Tournament heading into the final week of the regular season. League action continues this week with one conference game scheduled on Thursday and three on Saturday. The complete tournament bracket will be available following the conclusion of Saturday’s contests.

DENISON went 2-1 last week, highlighted by a victory over 15th ranked Rochester in its regular season home finale on Sunday. Abby Martone (St. Louis, MO/Burroughs School) scored both goals in the win over Rochester. In the conference win over Wooster, Chloe Dikeou (Denver, CO/Kent Denver) and Molly Chapman (Greenwich, CT/Millbrook School) provided the offense. Denison will close out its regular season at Oberlin on November 1.

DEPAUW assured itself of a fourth-straight 15-plus win season after sweeping Earlham and Ohio Wesleyan last week. Senior forward Paige Henry (Louisville, KY/Kentucky Country Day) scored three goals on the week, including the game-winner against Ohio Wesleyan to lead the Tigers.

EARLHAM picked up its first win of the season as the Quaker’s knocked off Bethany, 4-1. Megan Hut (Tiel, Netherlands/RSG Lingcollege) and Kaitlyn Brunner (Aurora, CO/Cherokee Trail) scored two goals each in the victory.

KENYON is on a nine-game winning streak dating back to September 28. The Ladies picked up a big conference win on Saturday when they defeated Denison, 1-0, avenging the team’s last loss a month ago. Clair O’Donnell-McCarthy (Mentor, OH/Laurel) has had to play goalie the last two matches while freshman sensation Sarah Speroff (Euclid, OH/Hawken School) has battled illness. O’Donnell-McCarthy pitched two shutouts over the weekend, her first collegiate victorie.

OBERLIN dropped a pair of conference contests last week, first falling to Wooster, 3-0, on Friday before getting knocked-off by Kenyon, 7-0, on Sunday. The Yeowomen return to action Saturday as they host Denison at home.

OHIO WESLEYAN split a pair of conference contests last week, defeating Wittenberg, 2-1, in an overtime thriller before falling to DePauw, 3-1. Haley Savoie (Poway, CA/Del Norte) continues to impress, as the sophomore has six goals and three assists in her last five games, a stretch in which the Bishops are 4-1.

WITTENBERG dropped a 2-1 decision to Ohio Wesleyan before winning 2-0 against Earlham, Freshman Carlijn van den Berg (Zwolle, The Netherlands/Thorbecke) scored once and assisted once during the week.

WOOSTER dropped a close 2-1 game at Denison and shutout Oberlin 3-0 to stay at .500 overall last week. Senior Carrie Mount (Plain City, OH/Dublin Jerome) recorded an impressive .923 save percentage for the week. She piled up a career-high 15 saves at Denison and then added nine against Oberlin to notch her third shutout of the season.
