DePauw (15-5) saw its 2015 come to a close on Wednesday afternoon following a 5-1 loss against Rhodes (16-5) in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.

After two early Lynx goals, DPU found the back of the net in the 22nd minute on a goal from sophomore forward Paige Berliner (New Albany, OH/Columbus Acad.) and that 2-1 score would hold through the remainder of the first half. DePauw’s defense came out strong in the opening minutes of the second half, but Rhodes broke the game open with three goals in a span of five minutes from the 52:29 mark to the 57:43 mark to secure the four-goal victory.

The Tigers finished the regular season in second place in the NCAC standings with a 12-2 record against league foes, but they did claim the league’s automatic bid into the national tournament after topping Kenyon, 1-0, in a sudden-victory shootout in the NCAC Tournament title game.
