Following the first week of conference play, Ohio Wesleyan (1-0, 3-1), Denison (1-0, 2-1), DePauw (1-0, 3-2) and Kenyon (1-0, 2-2) sit atop the league standings with eight NCAC contests scheduled this week. Ohio Wesleyan is off to its second-straight 3-1 start and looks to improve to 4-1 through five games for the first-time since 2008 when the Bishops face Kenyon Saturday in Gambier. 

DENISON opened conference play with a 4-0 shutout victory over Oberlin on Saturday. Freshman Charlotte Happel (Louisville, KY/Louisville Collegiate) scored twice, including the game winner, while sophomore Alyssa Bahel (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) added a goal and an assist and senior Abby Martone (St. Louis, MO/John Burroughs School) assisted on two scores. Sophomore goalie Ellen Westfall (Worthington, OH/Thomas Worthington) needed just one save to earn her fifth-career shutout.

DEPAUW went 2-1 last week with wins over Wittenberg, Centre and a loss to No. 14 Christopher Newport. Kate Milner (St. Louis, MO/John Burroughs School) scored her second goal of the season against Centre, which was the game-winner in overtime. She also recorded two assists against Wittenberg and recorded another against Christopher Newport.

EARLHAM finished last week with a 1-2 record, falling to Ohio Wesleyan in the NCAC opener and splitting a pair of games at Sewanee on the weekend. The Quakers will face Wooster and Oberlin on the road this weekend.

KENYON split two games last week. Wednesday, the Ladies got two goals from junior Katelyn Hutchinson (Pottstown, PA/St. George’s School) and opened NCAC play with a 3-0 win at Wooster. Sunday, the Ladies played on the road again, this time at Washington & Lee. Hutchinson tallied another goal in that game, but the Ladies lost, 3-1.

In its lone match of the week, OBERLIN dropped its conference opener at Denison, 4-0. Sophomore goalie Kennedy Kline (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter) made a career-high 13 saves in the setback.

OHIO WESLEYAN improved to 3-1 on the season, including a 1-0 mark in league play after an impressive 6-0, shutout against Earlham on the road last Wednesday. Freshman forward Ashley Barno (Bexley, OH/Bexley) led the way for the Bishops on the week with three goals, including two in the win against Earlham. Junior goalkeeper Jackie Feliciano (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) finished with 14 total saves in the three games for the Bishops.

WITTENBERG split a pair of contests last week, dropping a tough 3-2 decision top open NCAC play versus DePauw, before bouncing back to beat Concordia (WI), 6-1. Junior Riley Trexler (Louisville, KY/Atherton) led the Tigers with four goals on the week, including recording a hat-trick against Concordia.

WOOSTER is in the middle of a five-match homestand. The Scots went 2-0 over the weekend, and outscored their opponents, 7-2. Lauren Abbott (South Lyon, MI/Greenhills School) scored all three of Wooster’s goals in the Scots’ win over Transylvania.
