The Big Red, who finished out the 2017 season in the NCAA Division III Tournament, received all eight first-place votes for a total of 64 points.

Kenyon placed second, as the Ladies tallied 49 points after a 15-4 season and an NCAC tournament appearance. Wittenberg secured the third spot with 43 points after advancing to the NCAC championship match before falling to Denison, 2-1, a season ago. DePauw (41 pts) and Earlham (28) were slotted fourth and fifth, respectively, while Wooster (27), Ohio Wesleyan (25) and Oberlin (11) rounded out the eight-team field.

Last season, Denison secured the team's second NCAC Tournament Championship in program history and first since 2011, under head coach, P.J. Soteriades. In 17 seasons directing the Big Red, Soteriades has compiled 169 victories and 12 NCAC tournament appearances. Denison will see sophomore defender Michelle Kabaira return after being named a DIII All-American and both the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, while also claiming first-team All-NCAC honors. Classmate Charlotte Godfrey will return to the 2018 squad after earning second team laurels in the NCAC and on the NFHCA Division III All-Great Lakes Region Team during her rookie campaign.

The 2018 NCAC field hockey season kicks off with non-conference play on Friday, Aug. 31, while league games are slated to start on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
