2018 NCAC Field Hockey Players of the Week

October 29th
 

Blaine Donnelly, Wittenberg
(Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding)

Wittenberg’s Blaine Donnelly tallied her 101st career point on Thursday, scoring a goal in Wittenberg’s 2-1 win at DePauw, keeping the Tiger playoff hopes alive. The senior captain helped seal an NCAC Tournament spot with a goal in a 2-1 win at Ohio Wesleyan in the regular-season finale.

Charlotte Godfrey, Denison
(Dever, Colo./Cherry Creek)

Denison clinched the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship by defeating Ohio Wesleyan, 2-0, on Thursday at Selby Stadium. Charlotte Godfrey tallied a goal in the match, capping off a week where she also scored the game-winner in Tuesday’smatch against Wittenberg. This is Denison's 11th conference championship and the program's first outright conference title since 2000.

October 15th
 

Suzy Deems, Kenyon
(Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids)

Last week’s two shutout victories over Earlham and DePauw extended Kenyon freshman goalkeeper, Suzy Deems, shutout streak to three games. The Ladies defeated both the Quakers and Tigers by a 1-0 mark in NCAC play. The wins improve Kenyon’s record to 8-5 (7-3 NCAC) this season. 

October 8th
 

Alexis Roberts, Ohio Wesleyan
(Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy)

Ohio Wesleyan’s Alexis Roberts scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Bishops to a 5-4 victory at Wittenberg. The overtime game-winner completed a hat trick, her first of the season. She also compiled one goal and two assists against Wooster. She set up goals that brought OWU within 3-1 and 4-2, then tallied a goal on a tip-in that brought the Bishops to within 4-3 with 1:24 left in regulation time. 

October 1st
 

Erika Womack, Wooster
(Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley)

Wooster senior Erika Womack scored the decisive tally during the Scots’ shootout win over Kenyon on Saturday. Leading 3-1, Womack stepped up and clinched the contest by putting the Scots up by three after the fourth round of the shootout. On Sunday, Womack scored two goals and assisted on a third during the Scots’ 7-0 win at Oberlin.

September 24th

Kate Milner, DePauw
(St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs)

DePauw’s Kate Milner tallied two goals in a pair of victories against North Coast Athletic Conference opponents Oberlin and Wooster last week. Milner’s goal against Wooster proved to be the game-winner.

September 17th
  

Gigi Guenther, Kenyon
(Ypsilanti, Mich./Huron)

Kenyon’s Gigi Guenther tallied the game-winning goal for the Ladies during the team’s 4-1 win against Earlham. It was the second-year player’s first multiple-goal effort of her career and it helped Kenyon improve to 4-2 and more importantly 3-0 in the NCAC. 

September 10th
 

Charlotte Happel, Denison
(Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate)

Denison junior Charlotte Happel tallied a goal in each of Denison’s three matches last week. Happel pushed the Big Red lead to 3-1 in the 70th minute of action against DePauw, tallied the only goal for Denison against Roanoake and finished up her week with a third tally against No. 20-ranked Washington & Lee on Sunday.

September 4th

Teya Adams, Denison
(Rochester, N.Y./Berwick Academy)

Denison sophomore goalie Teya Adams posted a five-save performance in a double overtime contest against Centre on Saturday, Sept. 1, then led the Big Red to the 2-1 win by saving three-of-four shots in the shootout. Denison converted three shootout attempts while Adams held Centre to just one successful attempt.
