    The 2015 NCAC Golf Championship Series concluded on Sunday (5/3) at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio, hosted by Wittenberg University. Wittenberg captured its sixth-straight men's title with a 72-hole score of 1,162 (293-295-292-282), while the Wittenberg Tigers also picked up their first women's title in program history with a 72-hole total of 1,250 (310-318-322-300).

    The first event of the 2015 NCAC Golf Championship Series was contested last weekend, April 25-26, at Apple Valley Golf Club in Howard, Ohio, with Kenyon serving as the host institution. Five-time defending NCAC men’s champion Wittenberg leads after the first event with a 36-hole team total of 588 (293-295), while the Wittenberg Tigers also lead the women’s standings after the opening weekend of play with a two-day team total of 628 (310-318).

    It was a busy week for NCAC men’s golf teams as five of the league’s nine teams were in action at six different events, led by Wittenberg finishing second overall at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Gold Championship with a 54-hole score of 863.

    Only three NCAC women’s golf teams were in action last week, but it was a successful week on the links as Wittenberg won its fifth tournament of the season with a two-day score of 616 (314-302) at the Rhodes Joe Duncan Invitational in Tennessee, March 22-23, and also finished in a tie for second at the Washington (MO) Spring Invitational, March 28-29, with a two-day total of 630 (319-311).

    The spring portion of the 2014-15 NCAC men’s golf season kicked off last week with three league squads competing at the Taylor Made-Adidas Intercollegiate at the Cotton Dike Course at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, South Carolina. League squads will continue competition in southern states in the week ahead, led by Denison competing at the Myrtle Beach Shootout on Thursday, March 19th.

There are three more events on the schedule this week, led by Denison and Wooster continuing spring break action at the Old South Intercollegiate in Bluffton, South Carolina.

    The 2014-15 North Coast fall golf season came to a close last week with the Ohio Wesleyan men rounding out competition at the O’Briant-Jensen Memorial in Greensboro, North Carolina. The spring portion of the golf schedule will pick back up in early March, while the season will come to a close in the first weekend of May with Event II of the NCAC Golf Championship Series, played at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.

Allegheny and Hiram are the only two men’s teams in action this week with Hiram traveling to Mt. Vernon Nazarene’s Cougar Classic on Sunday and Allegheny participating in Gannon’s Howard “Bud” Elwell Invitational, Oct. 12-13.
