Eight North Coast men's golf student-athletes were named to the PING All-Great Lakes Region Team, while one NCAC rookie was selected as a member of the Division III All-Freshman Team.
There were 98 players across six different regions to be named a PING All-Region Team. The following NCAC golfers were named to the Great Lakes Region team, Denison junior Christian Early (Hinsdale, IL/Fenwick), Ohio Wesleyan junior Will Efkeman (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) and sophomore Jack Funderburg (Westerville, OH/Central), and Wittenberg sophomore Christopher Dunne (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas), senior Colin Laszlo (Waipahu, HI/Punahou), junior Ryan Mallette (Canton, OH/Central Catholic), senior Cooper Taylor (Superior, CO/Monarch) and junior Cameron Willis (Eaton, OH/Eaton).
At the 2019 NCAC Championship, which was played on the the par-72, 6,910-yard Westbrook C.C. course, Willis took medalist honors after shooting a 140 (72-68), while Taylor tied for second with a 145 (76-69) and Efkeman tied for fourth after posting a 146 (73-73). Laszlo and Mallette tied for eighth shooting identical scores of 149 (77-72), while Dunne tied for 11th with a 151 (78-73) and Early (81-73) and Funderburg (72-82) both carded a 154 to tie for 16th.
Additionally, Denison freshman Marc Mitchell (Atlanta, GA/Pace Academy) was named as one of six players to the 2019 Division III All-Freshman Team after posting a breakout season for the Big Red as a rookie. He tied for 21st at the 2019 North Coast Championships after posting a 155 (77-78).
The all-freshman team is composed of one golfer from each of the six regions in Division III. Members of the All-Freshmen Team are eligible for the Phil Mickelson Award as the most outstanding freshman in Division III men's golf. The Mickelson Award will be presented Friday, May 17 following the final round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
