  • Denison Leads NCAC In Final Learfield Standings
    June 01, 2018
    Following the completion of the 2017-18 NCAA Division III competition season, four North Coast Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top-70 of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, led by Denison finishing 44th out of 323 eligible institutions with 382.00 total points. Schools must have competed in an NCAA Championship event during the academic year in order to compile points in the standings.

    Denison won two outright league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's lacrosse, shared the league title with Kenyon in field hockey and posted 14 additional top-five finishes during the 2017-18 academic year to win its league-leading 16th North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship.

  • Bill Brown Inducted Into Ohio Hoops Hall of Fame

    The Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame will induct its 13th class of inductees on May 5, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. For the ninth time, Wittenberg University is represented in an induction class with the selection of former Tiger head coach Bill Brown, class of 1973, who won 483 games and seven North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular season championships between 1993 and 2016.

    The 2018 North Coast men’s basketball season came to a close on Saturday (3/3) night with Wittenberg (27-3) and Wooster (22-7) both dropping hard-fought contests in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament. Despite a furious second-half comeback attempt, Wittenberg wasn’t able to overcome a 34-19 halftime deficit as the Tigers dropped a 68-60 decision against Wisconsin-Oshkosh (22-7) Springfield, while Wooster (22-7) had an uncharacteristic 17 turnovers in a 91-85 loss against John Carroll (25-5) in University Heights, Ohio.

    While nationally-ranked Wittenberg (15-1, 22-1) clinched at least a share of its first North Coast men’s basketball title since 2012 on Wednesday with an 84-72 win over Wabash (8-8, 12-11), the Tigers also dropped their first game of the season on Saturday with a 94-71 setback at Hiram (10-6, 14-9). There are still several key matchups on the schedule in the final week of the season that will have a direct impact on the seeds for the 2018 NCAC Men’s Basketball Tournament, led by Hiram hosting Denison (8-8, 12-11) on Wednesday and Wittenberg hosting Wooster (13-3, 19-4) on Saturday.
