KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Wittenberg Men’s Basketball team was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Team of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 12, after an impressive week on the hardwood.
The Tigers posted a pair of wins last week to improve to 18-5 overall, 12-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). Wittenberg began the week with a 91-58 victory over Ohio Wesleyan before edging No. 9-ranked Wooster, 84-74. Wittenberg held a 13-point lead over Wooster at halftime before the Fighting Scots cut the deficit to single digits in the final minute of play. The loss ended a 12-game win streak for the Fighting Scots.
Teams up for NABC Team of the Week honors were nominated by their respective conferences, before being voted on by the NABC leadership. One team is selected per week from each of five levels of collegiate basketball (Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College).
