CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- Wabash College sophomore guard Jack Davidson has been named to the Top-50 Watch List for the 2019 Bevo Francis Award, which recognizes the top small college basketball player for a given season.
Clarence "Bevo" Francis earned national acclaim and All-America status for Rio Grande College in the 1950s. The award honoring his namesake has been given to a player from a non-NCAA Division I institution since 2016.
Currently in NCAA Division III, the sophomore guard is ranked No. 2 for free-throw percentage (93.5), No. 3 for free throws made (172), No. 9 for points per game (25.2), and No. 10 for total points (554). He is the only player from the North Coast Athletic Conference named to the list and is one of 10 NCAA Division III players.
Davidson is two made free throws away from tying the all-time all-division NCAA record of 94, held by Paul Cluxton from Division II's Northern Kentucky University. He will look to break the record Saturday when the 19-5 Little Giants take on Oberlin College at Chadwick Court at 2 p.m.
