  • Lords Bounced From NCAA Tournament
    May 14, 2017
    The Kenyon College Lords tennis team's season concluded Saturday afternoon at Tao Tennis Center on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. The host and No. 4-ranked Bears defeated Kenyon, 5-1, and eliminated the Lords from the third round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

    Wooster junior Titas Bera (North Potomac, MD/Wootton) has been named the Player of the Year and the Denison sophomore duo of Kevin Brown (Perrysburg, OH/St. John's Jesuit) and Blake Burstein (Birmingham, MI/Detroit Country Day) have been named the Doubles Team of the Year to highlight the 2016 All-North Coast Athletic Conference men's tennis team.
  • Lords To Open NCAA Tourney In St. Louis

    The Kenyon men’s tennis team will travel to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, for its opening weekend of action in the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships. The Lords secured their spot in the 43-team tournament after winning their 11th-straight NCAC title in late April. The appearance in the NCAA Tournament is the Lords’ 16th-straight and 21st overall. The Lords will enter the national tournament on a seven-match winning streak, with their last loss coming on April 1st against nationally-ranked Carnegie Mellon by a slim 5-4 margin.
  • Kenyon Claims 11th-Straight Men's Tennis Crown

    The 2017 NCAC Men's Tennis Championships concluded on Sunday afternoon at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. The Kenyon men captured their 11th-straight and 20th overall league championship with a 5-2 victory over DePauw in the championship match. As league champions, the Lords will receive the league's automatic bid into the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament.

    NCAC men’s tennis teams will wrap up the conference portion of the 2017 season this week in preparation for the 2017 NCAC Men’s Tennis Championships, which will be held at both Kenyon and Denison, April 28-30. Following the completion of all conference matches this weekend, the league’s seeding committee will meet on Sunday and the official brackets for the tournament will be released next Monday, April 24.

    It was a relatively light week of action on the NCAC men’s tennis circuit with just 12 total matches played, led by Ohio Wesleyan picking up a pair of wins over Wittenberg and Allegheny. There is a full slate of divisional matches on the schedule this week as we are now just two weeks away from the 2017 NCAC Men’s Tennis Championships.

    North Coast men’s tennis teams continued non-conference play last week with several squads taking on nationally-ranked Lewis & Clark as the Pioneers made their trek through Ohio on their spring break trip. There are 13 total matches on the schedule this week, highlighted by a pair of NCAC East matches as Allegheny will host Ohio Wesleyan on Friday and Wooster will travel to Oberlin on Saturday.

    While most North Coast men’s tennis teams will be in local action this week, DePauw will head out west for three matches in California. There are also several matchups on the slate this week between NCAC squads, led by Wittenberg traveling to Wooster for a cross-divisional match on Friday and Ohio Wesleyan hosting Kenyon in the East on Sunday.

In addition, Oberlin returns home this weekend for the first NCAC East Division match of the season against Ohio Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m.

    There was at least one NCAC men’s tennis match every day last week, which included a battle of nationally-ranked teams that saw Trinity (TX) hand Kenyon a narrow 5-4 loss on Sunday in Orlando, Florida. Several other league teams will be in action this week on spring break trips in California, Florida and South Carolina.

    It was a light week on the NCAC men’s tennis circuit with just four of the nine league teams in action, highlighted by Wittenberg (6-0, 0-0) staying perfect on the season by opening its spring break trip in Orlando, Florida, with a 5-4 win over King’s on Sunday. Several other conference squads will head south for spring break trips this week, led by Wabash (6-5, 0-0) making the trek to California for three matches.

There is limited action on the men’s schedule this week, highlighted by Wittenberg opening its annual spring break trip in Florida on March 5th against King’s.

League squads are scheduled to be in action on six different days next week, led by Kenyon (0-0, 3-2) traveling to Cleveland, Ohio, over the weekend for the 2017 ITA National Indoor Championships.

League squads return to the courts this weekend with 14 total matches on the slate, led by No. 34 DePauw (0-0, 1-0) hosting Division I Butler on Friday night and No. 33 Denison (0-0, 0-2) taking on No. 5 Chicago on Saturday in Indianapolis.
