Kenyon (4-0), DePauw (4-4) and Wittenberg (1-5) opened the 2018 North Coast softball season last week. The Ladies open their campaign with a perfect 4-0 mark for the first time since 2014. This week, Hiram, Allegheny and Oberlin will kick off their season as the Terriers head to Arizona, the Gators to Virginia Beach and Oberlin opens at Franciscan.
ALLEGHENY will open the 2018 season on Saturday, March 10th, on its spring break trip in Virginia Beach, Virginia against Rhode Island College.
DENISON will open the 2018 season on Saturday, March 17th versus Adrian.
DEPAUW posted a 2-4 record at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Tucson, Ariz., including a win over No. 18 Messiah and losses to No. 21 Central and No. 22 George Fox. This came after a sweep of John Carroll and Maryville (TN) two weeks ago.
HIRAM will open the 2018 on Monday, March 5th, on its spring break trip in Tuscon, Arizona against Oneonta.
KENYON rolled to a 4-0 start in its first four spring break games in Ft. Myers, Florida. Three of those four wins came via shutout and two were by run rule. The Ladies began Saturday with wins over Elms (14-1) and Clark (6-0). Sunday, they returned to the diamond to defeat Rivier (8-0) and New Jersey City (4-0). Sophomore Keely Sweet (Glencoe, MO/Westminster Christian) started two games, threw 14 innings and went 3-0 in the pitchers’ circle. She did not allow a run and gave up just four hits, while striking out six. At the plate, senior Nicole Horita (San Mateo, CA/Aragon) led the way, hitting .750 with nine hits, five runs scored and three RBI.
OBERLIN will open its season on March 9th against Franciscan.
OHIO WESLEYAN will open the 2018 season on Monday, March 12th, on its spring break trip in Clermont, Florida against Anderson.
WITTENBERG opened the season at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Arizona. The Tigers posted a 1-5 record through their first six games.
WOOSTER will open the 2018 season on Monday, March 12th, on its spring break trip in Kissimmee, Florida against Centenary at 1:30 p.m.
