Eight total players from the North Coast were named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Central Region Team, highlighted by DePauw freshman Cami Henry (Camby, IN/Mooresville) being selected as a first team honoree.
Henry, who was also named the 2019 NCAC Pitcher of the Year, was dominant in the pitching circle against league opponents this past season as she posted a perfect 8-0 record after allowing just two earned runs and striking out 44 batters in 44.2 innings of work for a league-best 0.31 earned-run-average.
Three NCAC players were named to the NFCA second team, including Hiram freshman Megan Davis (Hebron, OH/Lakewood), Oberlin freshman Cat Moruzzi (Moreno Valley, CA/John W. North) and Wittenberg sophomore Elise Freeland (Marysville, OH/Marysville). All three were All-NCAC first-team selections this past season.
Four additional NCAC players were tabbed to the third team including DePauw freshman Jade Mejia-Wick (Woodridge, IL/Downers Grove North), Kenyon sophomore Grace Finn (Escondido, CA/Escondido) and senior Grace Pilz (Fox River Grove, IL/Cary Grove) and Wooster sophomore Olivia Johnson (Thornville, OH/Sheridan). Finn, Johnson and Pilz earned All-NCAC first-team accolades in 2019, while Mejia-Wick was a second team selection.
All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 22 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Tyler, Texas.
