Three NCAC Divers Qualify For Nationals

Three North Coast Athletic Conference women's divers will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships after making the cut at the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals at Wabash College (region one) this past weekend. Denison juniors Allison Fitzgerald (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills Central) and Naomi Clayton (Lexington, KY/Sayre) and Kenyon senior Madeline Carlson (Wayzata, MN/Blake School) will head to the Greensboro Aquatic Center (Greensboro, NC) to compete with their teams on the national stage, March 20-23.

In the one-meter competition at regionals, Fitzgerald finished third out of 28 divers totaling 424.05 points, while Carlson recorded 417.35 points for fourth and Clayton took seventh (404.65). On the three-meter board, Clayton placed seventh out of 27 divers with 416.80 points, while Fitzgerald followed in eighth with 412.70 points and Carlson finished in 10th (396.25).

Denison freshman Mattie Stauss (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) has been selected as an alternate for the national championships after placing eighth (396.50) on the one-meter board and 13th (388.80) in the three-meter competition at regionals.
