Eleven North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) divers took center stage in day-1 of the NCAA Division III Diving Regional on Friday, March 1. Nine athletes competed in region one, which was hosted by Wabash College, while two divers competed in region four at Rochester Institute of Technology.
In the men's three-meter competition at Wabash, Kenyon senior Ryder Sammons (Kent, CT/Kent School) was the top NCAC finisher, locking down a career-best sixth-place finish, totaling 457.70 points across 11 dives. Denison freshman Liam Simmons (Weston, CT/Weston) finished 11th with 416.10 points, while Wabash senior Aaron Embree (Springville, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) came home with a 13th-place finish, tallying 406.10 points.
In the women's one-meter competition at Wabash, Denison junior Allison Fitzgerald (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills Central) placed third out of 28 divers totaling 424.05 points. Kenyon senior Madeline Carlson (Wayzata, MN/Blake School) recorded 417.35 points, securing a fourth-place finish, while Denison junior Naomi Clayton (Lexington, KY/Sayre) took seventh (404.65), Big Red freshman Mattie Strauss (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) placed eighth (396.50), and senior teammate Emma Weber (Cincinnati, OH/Wyoming) took 12th (391.75). DePauw sophomore Katherine Douglas (Coal Valley, IL/Moline Sr.) finished 18th with a score of 367.60 points.
Allegheny had two divers compete at RIT in the women's three-meter competition. Junior Brionna Litwin (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) finished 12th, compiling a score of 389.55, while sophomore Chelsea Pietrzycki (Parma, OH/Parma) finished in 26th with a score of 341.75 points.
NCAA Regional Diving will conclude on Saturday, March 2, at Wabash and RIT.
