Three North Coast Track & Field and Cross Country student-athletes were named to the 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, it was announced on Wednesday, June 21st.
All three student-athletes were second-team selections in their respective genders, including Ohio Wesleyan senior Sarah Fowler (Mt. Vernon, OH/Fredericktown), Allegheny senior Dan Cheung (Northbrook, IL/Glenbrook North) and Wooster junior Geoffrey Carney-Knisley (South Burlington, VT/Rice Memorial).
The CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
Among the 45 student-athletes on the Division III Men’s Academic All-America® Track & Field/Cross Country Team, seven have a 4.00 grade-point average. The 16 members of the men’s track & field first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.83. There are 15 women among the 45 selections on the Division III Women’s Academic All-America® Track & Field/Cross Country Team that have a G.P.A. of 4.00. The 15 student-athletes selected to the women’s track & field first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.95.
Twelve men and 16 women are repeat CoSIDA Academic All-America® selections. Three women earned their third-straight CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors.
