NCAC Sends Nine Track & Field Athletes To Nationals

The 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set to take place May 23-25, at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Nine student-athletes will represent the North Coast Athletic Conference next weekend in Northeast Ohio. For the complete list of accepted entries: men | women.

Highlighting the list of women's entries is the NCAC Distance/Middle Distance Athlete of the Year, Allegheny senior Emily Forner (Beaver, PA/Beaver Area). She holds the top seed time among qualifiers entering the 5,000 meter competition at 16:33.01. The finals for the 5,000 will be held at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday. Gator classmate Sarah Hevener (Hilliard, OHHilliard Bradley) will be competing in the 10,000m run after posting a top-20 seed time of 36:17.30. The 10,000 finals will be contested on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. Oberlin junior Oona Jung-Beeman (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) will race in the 3,000m steeplechase as she qualified with a seed time of 11:03.33. The steeplechase prelims will be run at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday with the finals on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. Yeowoman teammate, freshman Sarah Voit (Cincinnati, OH/Mcauley) posted a top-10 mark of 3.82m in the pole vault and will compete in the finals on Thursday at 12:00 p.m., while Ohio Wesleyan junior Cirrus Robinson (Columbus, OH/Ashland) will compete in the high jump after recording the 11th-best mark at 1.69m. Finals for the high jump are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

On the men's side, Wabash will send a pair of athletes to the national meet, including junior RaShawn Jones (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) and freshman Preston Whaley (Fort Worth TX/Chisholm). Jones qualified for the outdoor championship meet with a time of 14.30 in the 110m hurdles for a top-five seed. Preliminaries for the 110m hurdles will take place at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, with the finals scheduled for 12:50 p.m. on Saturday. Whaley will compete in the triple jump after recording a leap of 14.61m, which places him as the 14th seed. The 2019 NCAC Field Athlete and Newcomer of the Year will compete in the preliminaries on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Oberlin senior Hank Sinn (Latty, OH/Wayne Trace) will compete in the hammer throw with a top-20 mark of 57.29m. The hammer preliminaries will take place at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Wooster senior David Westcott (Lake Forest, IL/Millbrook (NY)) will race in the 3,000m steeplechase after recording a top-five seed time of 9:02.96. The steeplechase preliminaries will be contested at 5:25 p.m. on Thursday with finals set for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
