The Tigers will host Claremont-M-S of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (24-3) in a first-round matchup on Friday night.

    Denison senior Alex Longi (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) and DePauw senior Alex Gasaway (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) have been recognized for their academic and athletic successes this season as the duo earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America Team, it was announced on Tuesday, February 18, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

    DePauw (15-0, 24-0), having already captured the NCAC championship and the No. 1 seed for the 2014 NCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament, continued its unbeaten conference record with an 80-47 victory over Kenyon (8-6, 13-9). The final seven seeds for the conference tournament will be determined this week as the NCAC regular season schedule officially comes to a close on Saturday. League action picks back up this Wednesday with four games on the slate, highlighted by Wittenberg (8-6, 13-9) traveling to Kenyon and Oberlin (4-10, 9-14) hosting Ohio Wesleyan (10-4, 15-8). Saturday features DePauw visiting Ohio Wesleyan and Allegheny (7-7, 13-10) hosting Denison (9-5, 17-6).

    DePauw (13-0, 22-0) clinched its third-straight outright NCAC title following a 74-50 win against Hiram. The Tigers have now posted 75 straight regular seasons wins and have won at least 22 games for the past 13 seasons. League action resumes this week with Denison (8-4, 16-5) squaring off at Oberlin (3-8, 8-12) on Monday in a makeup contest, followed by four games each on Wednesday and Saturday.

    Ohio Wesleyan (7-4, 12-8) went a perfect 2-0 last week after picking up wins over Wittenberg (5-5, 10-8) and Hiram (1-9, 5-14) last week. The Bishops have won six of their last eight contests and their 12 wins overall are the most since the 2010-11 season when Ohio Wesleyan posted 15 victories.

    Five North Coast squads: Denison (4-3, 12-4), Allegheny (4-3, 10-6), Kenyon (4-3, 9-6), Wittenberg (4-3, 9-6) and Ohio Wesleyan (4-3, 9-7) are tied for second in the conference standings as we approach the midway portion of the league schedule. DePauw (7-0, 16-0) continues to lead the North Coast in large part to balanced scoring and a defense that has held conference opponents to just 53.1 points per game. NCAC play continues this week with four tilts scheduled on both Wednesday and Saturday.

NCAC play continues this week with four tilts scheduled on both Wednesday and Saturday.

The Tigers have now won 38 straight contests going back to last season. Eight of the nine North Coast squads will be in action this week as non-conference play continues over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
