III Women’s Basketball Tournament, while Denison (23-4) earned its sixth berth, receiving one of the 20 at-large bids into the championship field. 2016 marks the second-straight season the North Coast will be represented by two teams in the national field.

Lebanon) added to her list of postseason accolades this year by being named a third-team selection on the Division III Women's Basketball Academic All-America Team, it was announced on Tuesday (3/1) by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

    The Denison University Big Red captured their first NCAC Women’s Basketball title since 2010-11 and their fourth overall after finishing the regular season with a 15-1 mark against league foes. The Big Red, who snapped DePauw’s recent string of four-straight NCAC titles, will also enter the NCAC Tournament on a 15-game winning streak. Wittenberg leads all league teams with 12 NCAC championships, sharing the crown with Ohio Wesleyan in 1999 and ‘92. Allegheny is next with six titles, winning five-straight from 1985-89. The Gators shared the NCAC’s first championship in 1985 with Wooster. Additionally, Allegheny and Ohio Wesleyan tied for first in 2001. The Battling Bishops own five overall titles, followed by Denison (4), Kenyon (3) and Wooster (2).

    Denison (20-3, 13-1) clinched at least a share of the NCAC Championship and the No. 1 seed for the 2016 Tournament last week after defeating Kenyon (15-8, 9-5), 39-25. The Big Red clinched the top seed via the head-to-head tiebreaker against DePauw. The final seven seeds for the conference tournament will be determined this week as the NCAC regular season schedule officially comes to a close on Saturday. The complete tournament bracket will be available following the conclusion of Saturday’s contests.

There are eight league games on the schedule this week, highlighted by Denison traveling to Hiram (4-3, 10-6) on Wednesday and Oberlin (3-4, 9-7) hosting Allegheny (3-4, 8-8) on Saturday.

    Ohio Wesleyan (2-3, 3-11) and Wooster (1-4, 5-9) combined for 195 total points to set an NCAC single-game record in the Bishops’ seven-point double-overtime thriller last Wednesday. The 195 points breaks the previous record of 194 set in February of 1991 between Allegheny and Oberlin. Denison (4-1, 11-3) defeated DePauw (4-2, 10-5), 63-54, to snap the Tigers 96 -game regular season home conference-winning streak and climb to the top of the league standings. NCAC play continues this week with four tilts scheduled on both Wednesday and Saturday.

There just two games scheduled this week including, Kenyon (0-2, 5-4) and Ohio Wesleyan (0-2, 0-7) battling on Tuesday with each team looking for its first conference victory. League squads will return to non-conference action after the holiday break with numerous teams either hosting or traveling to holiday tournaments, while a full schedule of conference action picks back up on January 2nd and 3rd.
