NCAC Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll

DePauw women's basketball has been tabbed the favorites for the 2019-20 North Coast Athletic Conference basketball season, based on balloting from league coaches.

DePauw, in search of its eighth NCAC title, earned eight of the possible nine first-place votes cast by the coaches to top the poll with 76 points. Denison collected the final first-place vote, totaling 69 points overall for second, while Kenyon earned third with 61 points. Wittenberg (59) and Ohio Wesleyan (44) rounded out the top five in the voting, while Oberlin (36), Hiram (27), Allegheny (19) and Wooster (14) completed the nine-team field.

The DePauw Tigers, who are the defending NCAC Tournament champions and who own six postseason titles overall, return four starters and 11 letter winners from a squad that finished the 2018-19 season with a 25-5 record and a near-perfect 15-1 mark in NCAC play. Senior guard Sydney Kopp (Burr Ridge, IL/Hinsdale South), a two-time All-NCAC first-team selection, the Tigers’ leading scorer and top three-point shooter, returns after averaging 15.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Junior forward Claire Keefe (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) also returns after averaging 10.7 points per game and a team-high 6.2 rebounds per outing. Keefe was a second-team All-NCAC selection after earning honorable mention and NCAC Newcomer of the Year accolades in her rookie campaign. Sophomore guard Mya Shannon (Morris, IL/Morris), the 2018-19 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, will hit the hardwood after producing 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game a season ago, while junior forward Hayley Cange (Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius College Prep) returns after contributing 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 points and 1.1 assists per game. Senior guard Natalie Kehrt (New Palestine, IN/New Palestine) is one of three returners who started all 30 contests last year, gathering 2.8 rebounds and netting 1.8 points per contest.

The 2019-20 season begins on Saturday, November 9, while the first league game is slated for Saturday, November 30. The NCAC Tournament will be held at the end of February with quarterfinals scheduled for February 25 and the semifinals and championship to be played on February 28 and 29.
