2019 NCAC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week

September 3rd
 

Holly Thompson, Wooster
(West Chester, OH/Lakota East)

Wooster sophomore Holly Thompson recorded the first multi-goal game of her career on Sunday at Adrian. The sophomore scored both Fighting Scot goals as they tied the Bulldogs, 2-2. Wooster also took a 1-0 victory at Marietta on Friday. Thompson’s two goals currently leads the confernce through week one.  

 

September 9th
 

Ashley Smiley, Ohio Wesleyan
(Delaware, OH/Hayes)

Ohio Wesleyan junior Ashley Smiley set up a game-winning goal and followed with an insurance goal in a 4-0 victory against Manchester on Wednesday. She then scored twice against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, including what proved to be deciding goal, in a 3-1 win. She finished the week with three goals and an assist as the Battling Bishops improved to 3-1 on the season. 

 

September 16th
 

Fallon Raviol, Kenyon
(Bronxville, NY/Bronxville)

Kenyon senior forward Fallon Raviol tallied a team-high five points as the Ladies upset 15th-ranked and previously unbeaten Otterbein on Saturday in Gambier. Raviol scored the game’s first goal 33 seconds in and added another in the first half. Kenyon’s 5-4 victory against the Cardinals marked the first time since Aug. 31, 2007, against No. 5 Calvin that the Ladies beat a ranked team in the regular season.

 

September 23rd
 

Jenna McCarroll, DePauw
(Crown Point, IN/Crown Point)

DePauw senior midfielder Jenna McCarroll delivered the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Aurora last week. She also contributed on the defensive end, helping the Tigers pitch their second consecutive shutout and third of the season.

 

September 30th
 

Abby King, Denison
(Grosse Ile, MI/Western Reserve Academy) 

Denison sophomore Abby King registered a game-winning goal and assist in a 2-0 victory against Capital before adding another goal in a 2-0 victory against Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.

 

October 7th
 

Ashley Smiley, Ohio Wesleyan
(Delaware, OH/Hayes)

Ohio Wesleyan junior Ashley Smiley scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday. She followed that up with a hat trick to power the Bishops to 3-0 win at Oberlin on Saturday. It was her first hat trick since Oct. 13, 2018, and her second all-time for the Bishops. Her performance on the week raised her league-leading totals to 11 goals and 26 points. Smiley also shares the league lead in game-winning goals (2) and assists (4).

 

October 14th
 

Alex Berkley, DePauw
(Evanston, IL/Evanston)

DePauw senior Alex Berkley notched a goal and assist in a non-conference victory against North Park on Tuesday before knocking in the game-winner on Saturday against Hiram. Saturday’s game-winner in the 34th minute was the only goal of the match. 

 

October 21st
 

Emily Orr, Allegheny
(Coraopolis, PA/Moon Area)

Allegheny sophomore Emily Orr recorded a goal and an assist in the Gators’ 3-2 victory over Oberlin, including the game-winner in the 61st minute. Orr then finished her week with another goal in a 2-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.

 

October 28th
 

Alex Berkley, DePauw
(Evanston, IL/Evanston)

DePauw senior Alex Berkley scored a pair of game-winners for the Tigers last week. The first game-winner was a penalty kick goal in DePauw’s 1-0 shutout win over Ohio Wesleyan. The second game-winning goal came in overtime against Allegheny after Berkley had already tied the game at two, to force overtime. Her game-winners helped keep the Tigers on top in the NCAC standings.

 

November 4th
 

Brooke Peters, Wittenberg
(Cincinnati, OH/Anderson)

Wittenberg freshman Brooke Peters put up a goal and an assist in each of Wittenberg’s two wins last week. Of Wittenberg’s four goals at Ohio Wesleyan, Peters assisted the first of the game before scoring the Tigers’ second goal. In a three-goal win against Allegheny, Peters assisted the second goal of the game and later registered the final Tiger goal.
