After cruising to a 5-0 win over Wheaton (IL) in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships on May 10th, No. 22 Kenyon bowed out of the national tournament on the next day with a 5-1 loss against No. 9 Carnegie Mellon.
After opening the match against Wheaton with a 3-0 record in the doubles competition, the Ladies quickly dispatched of the Thunder in the singles competition with wins from their top two players in the lineup. In the top flight, senior Diana Aboubakare (Orange, CA/Luther) knocked off Katie Park by a 6-1, 6-3 margin, while freshman Erika Oku (Hinsdale, IL/Central) earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sara Magnuson in the second flight.
Against CMU, the Ladies fell behind early by dropping all three doubles matches, and Oku was the lone singles player to notch a win as the Tartans eliminated the Ladies from the national tournament.
The loss ended Kenyon's season with a 21-3 record, the most victories since the 1997 team went 22-4 and won the national title.
