22 Women's Tennis Student-Athletes Honored by ITA

Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes List

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2019 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Thursday, July 18, and 22 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) women’s tennis individuals were recognized by the association. 

Allegheny had a pair of honorees in juniors Amanda Ress Liere (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) and Hannah Schaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel), while Kenyon netted six student-athletes in the form of freshman Sofia Alonso (Miami, FL/Florida Virtual School), sophomore Erika Oku (Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Central), sophomore Elena Prenovitz (Erie, PA/Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy), senior Annie Reiner (New York, NY/Riverdale Country Day), senior Maggie Sweeney (Grosse Pointe, MI/South) and freshman Anna Winslow (Sunrise, FL/South Plantation). Oberlin collected four honorees in senior Rainie Heck (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill), junior Claudia Olaes (Oberlin, OH/Oberlin), sophomores Francesca Kern (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) and Hannah Keidan (River Forest, IL/Oak Park/River Forest). Wittenberg was represented by three honorees, sophomore Aliza Johnson (West Bath, ME/Morse), freshmen Josie Paazig (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Davidson) and Sarah Wilke (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin). Lastly, Wooster had a conference-high seven student-athletes named to the team, including sophomores Kendra Devereux (Finksburg, MD/Westminster)Sarah Duran (Portland, OR/Northwest Academy), Laura Haley (Tiffin, OH/Tiffin Calvert), juniors Qingyue Li (Beijing China/Weil Tennis Academy (CA))Shannon Sertz (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Mahlet Zemedkun (Addis ababa, Ethiopia/Lycee Guebre-Mariam) and freshman Rebeca LaRue (Chugiak, AK/Chugiak).

In addition to the All-Academic Scholars, Kenyon, Oberlin and Wooster were tabbed All-Academic teams for having a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
