2019 NCAC Women's Tennis Players of the Week

April 22nd  
Maggie Sweeney, Kenyon
(Grosse Pointe, MI/Grosse Pointe South)

Kenyon’s Maggie Sweeney helped the Kenyon Ladies to a conference victory over Wooster last week. The senior pulled out a 6-1, 6-0, victory in No. 3 singles while also helping issue an 8-4 decision in No. 1 doubles.
April 15th  
Lauren Hawley, Denison
(Dayton, OH/Archbishop Alter) 

Denison senior Lauren Hawley produced a 4-0 week including No. 1 singles victories over Wittenberg’s Carli Milano (6-1, 6-2) and DePauw’s Megan Galle (6-0, 6-4). She also notched a pair of No. 1 doubles victories against both Wittenberg and DePauw.
April 8th  
Delaney Black, Oberlin
(Huron, OH/Huron)

Oberlin ace Delaney Black turned in a 5-1 weekend, earning wins in the top flight against league foes Wooster and Wittenberg in both singles and doubles. Black and doubles partner Francesca Kern also earned a signature win in doubles play with an 8-4 triumph over Case Western’s top pairing of Madeleine Paolucci and Nicole Cardwell, who rank third in the region. 
April 1st  
Miharu Koh, Allegheny
(Tokyo, Japan/Monta Vista (CA))

Allegheny’s Miharu Koh went 4-0 on the week, helping the Gators sweep St. Vincent and Penn State Behrend. Koh produced a 6-3, 6-4, victory at No. 2 singles against St. Vincent and a 6-0, 6-0, No. 1-singles victory over Penn State Behrend. She also produced a pair of victories in No. 1 doubles, 8-1 and 8-2.
March 25th  
Sarah Wilke, Wittenberg
(Cincinnati, OH/Turpin)

Wittenberg’s Sarah Wilke produced a 4-0 week for the Tigers. The freshman won at No. 5 singles over Ohio Wesleyan’s Sydeny Simmons, 7-5, 6-4, while also helping the Wittenberg to a No. 3 doubles victory, 8-2. Against Trine, Wilke won at No. 4 singles over Delaney Keirn, 6-4, 6-1, and helped the Tigers to a 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
March 18th  

Daria Beshentseva, Kenyon
(Moscow, Russia/Lyceum 1535)

Kenyon’s Daria Beshentseva had a perfect 6-0 week across singles and doubles play in the Ladies victories over Washington (MO), Washington & Lee and Mary Washington. In singles play, she defeated Washington’s (MO) Stephani Ren (6-3, 6-2), Washington & Lee’s Danielle Mirabella (6-4, 6-2) and Mary Washington’s Lily Horsley (6-4, 7-5).

March 11th  
Sarah Duran, Wooster
(Portland, OR/Northwest Academy)

Wooster’s Sarah Duran produced a 4-0 record last week, getting No. 2 singles victories against Calvin’s Madeline Brouwer (6-2, 6-3) and Capital’s Maria Sadek (6-0, 6-0). She also helped the Fighting Scots clinch two doubles matches against the Knights (8-4) and Crusaders (8-2). 
March 4th
Lauren Hawley, Denison

Denison’s Lauren Hawley went undefeated in Denison’s victories over No. 39-ranked Hope and Kalamazoo last week. She produced a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Kalamazoo’s Laura Hanselman at the No. 1-singles position, coupled with a pair of 8-1, 8-3 doubles victories.
February 25th  

Amanda Showalter, DePauw
(Centerville, OH/Achbishop Alter)

DePauw Amanda Showalter helped the Tigers post two victories on Saturday, 8-1 over Principia, and 5-2 over Indiana Wesleyan. Showalter went 4-0 on the day including a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Principia’s Brittany Duke in No. 4 singles. Showalter improved her singles record to 6-8 and moved her doubles record to 10-7.

February 18th 
Lauren Hawley, Denison
(Dayton, OH/Archbishop Alter)

Denison’s Lauren Hawley helped the Big Red defeat NCAA Division II opponent, Indiana (Pa.), on Sunday, 6-3. Playing in the first-singles slot, Hawley downed Katya Minchenkova, 7-6, 5-2, before again beating Minchenkova and teammate Thais Andreotti, 8-5 in No. 1 doubles. 
February 11th 
Francesca Kern, Oberlin
(Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep)

First-year Francesca Kern notched her first collegiate victories in singles play, helping the Yeowomen knock off OAC foes Baldwin Wallace and Otterbein. Kern was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 3 singles over the Yellow Jackets’ Kathleen Moser and was a 6-0, 6-3 victor over the Cardinals’ Makayla Sutter. She and fellow rookie Rebecca Shiloff paired up at No. 2 doubles to win 8-0 vs. Baldwin Wallace before gutting out an 8-7 (7-3) victory over Otterbein’s Jordyn Traxler and Marriella Briones to cap off a perfect 4-0 day for the Yeowomen rookie.
February 4th  

Erika Oku, Kenyon
(Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Central) 

Kenyon sophomore Erika Oku won a tough, three-set battle against No. 35 (NAIA) Camila Puente on Feb. 2 in the Ladies’ 9-0 win. That victory pushed Oku’s record at No. 1 to 7-0 all-time and extended her winning streak to 23 matches dating back to last season. In doubles, she and senior teammate Maggie Sweeney had no trouble at the top flight as they won 8-3.
