AUSTIN, Texas -- The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Volleyball Team was released on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Wittenberg’s Karen Wildemann (Columbus, Ind./North) was recognized as a first-team member and DePauw’s Suzanne Peters (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) was tabbed to the third-team.
Wildemann was tabbed to the Academic All-America first-team after compiling a 4.0 as a biology and finance major. She helped guide the Tigers to the NCAA Regional Finals this season, compiling 893 assists (9.92 assists/set) along the way. Wildemann also earned AVCA All-America Second-Team honors, Academic All-District, All-Great Lakes Region and All-NCAC recognition.
Peters earned Academic All-America third-team honors after registering a 3.81 GPA as a kinesiology major. She also helped lead the Tigers to the second round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament for the first time since 2016. Peters was also named to the AVCA All-America Third Team, Academic All-District, All-Great Lakes Region and garnered All-NCAC honors.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
