October 31st


Lauren Strowder, Denison

Hitting percentage: .476

Denison junior Lauren Strowder averaged 4.5 kills per game and posted a .476 hitting percentage as Denison clinched a berth in the 2010 NCAC Tournament. Strowder led the Big Red past Allegheny, 3-0, to earn DU its first post-season berth since 2006.

October 24th

Total blocks: 8

Allegheny junior middle hitter Caitlin Rothman collected 16 kills and eight blocks as the Gators swept two conference opponents. She had a season-high hitting percentage of .636 in a 3-0 decision over Kenyon. The two victories lifted Allegheny back into the hunt for a spot in the NCAC tournament.

Oberlin senior Anna Frackman led the Yeowomen to a pair of wins in NCAC play. In a five-set victory over Allegheny, Frackman smashed a season-best 23 kills with 18 digs and a .340 attack percentage. She surpassed the 1,000 career digs mark, and moved in second place on OC’s all-time kills list with 882 career kills.


October 10th

Wittenberg junior middle hitter Katie Sumner led the Tigers to three conference victories. With a .385 attack percentage, Sumner recorded 13 kills and added nine blocks and five service aces as Wittenberg reclaimed first place in the conference standings.

Denison senior libero Lauren Weidner led the Big Red to back-to-back victories for the first time this season. She recorded a career-high 56 digs in a five-set win over Muskingum, then added 30 more in a three-set victory over Earlham. Against the Muskies, her dig total was just six off the NCAC single-match record and two short of Denison's single-match record.

Hiram junior outside hitter Shaina Bryan led the Terriers to a 4-0 record at the NCAC Weekend. She contributed 77 kills (3.67 per set), .382 attack percentage, 83 digs (3.95 per set) and 12 blocks. Bryan posted nine kills and eight digs in Hiram’s first victory over Wittenberg since 2005.

September 19th

Ana Maricic, Kenyon
(Harbor City, CA/San Pedro)

Kenyon freshman Ana Maricic registered over 30 kills and 12 blocks to lead the Ladies to three straight wins at the Transylvania Invitational, their longest win streal since 2005. Maricic was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts. Kenyon has won five of its last seven matches and improved to 6-7 on the season,

Wooster sophomore libero Kelley Johnson set a career-high with 48 digs against Baldwin-Wallace at the Marcia French Memorial Tournament, co-hosted by Baldwin-Wallace and Case Western Reserve. Johnson, who was named to the all-tournament team, also served nine-straight points to lead Wooster back from a 24-17 deficit in the second set against B-W to help the Fighting Scots post a 26-24 set victory.

Wittenberg senior setter Amy Cox made her debut at setter after three seasons as an outside hitter by averaging nearly 11 assists per set (108). Cox led the Tigers to back-to-back sweeps of nationally ranked opponents Wisc.-Whitewater and St. Thomas, as well as a 3-1 win over Cal-Lutheran, en route to winning their own National Invitational title.
