Ohio Wesleyan freshman outside hitter Brianna La Croix helped the Battling Bishops secure their first winning record in league play at 5-3 with a season-best 20-kill performance over Kenyon last week. La Croix, who also finished the match with eight digs, amassed the kills in 35 attempts with just three errors for a .486 hitting percentage. OWU’s 2006 team was the last to post a winning record in league play after they finished with a 9-7 mark.

Oberlin sophomore setter Meredith Leung led the Yeowomen to three victories last week against Case, 3-1, Kenyon, 3-1, and Wooster, 3-0. Offensively, she distributed 109 set assists and dropped 12 kills against just one error for a .458 hitting percentage. She also aided the defensive effort by accumulating 37 digs over the three wins combined.

DePauw junior setter Faith Rolwes posted a triple-double in the Tigers’ 3-1 win over Denison on Saturday. In the win of DU, she totaled 12 kills, 40 set assists, 16 digs and two service aces. She also collected 39 set assists, 10 digs and seven kills in DPU’s 3-0 non-conference win over Rose-Hulman on Wednesday.

Kenyon freshman outside hitter Tierney McClure proved to be a dual threat for the Ladies as they posted a 3-1 record last weekend at the Rowan Invitational in New Jersey. McClure finished the four-match stretch with 47 digs, 44 kills and seven service aces. She matched her season-high in kills with 15 in a 3-2 win over Rowan and also matched her season-benchmark with three service aces in a 3-0 loss against Hunter.

DePauw junior outside hitter Sarah Burtenshaw led the Tigers to three straight-set victories last week against Ohio Wesleyan, Kenyon and Marian (IN). In the wins against OWU and KC, Burtenshaw led the Tigers in kills with 10 and 13, respectively. After playing three sets against Marian on Saturday, she finished the week with 32 kills and an impressive .439 hitting percentage.

Hiram senior setter Tierra Moore matched her season-high set assists number twice last week in wins over Heidelberg, 3-1, and Denison, 3-2. Moore dished out 51 set assists in both wins and added 33 additional helpers in a 3-2 loss against Alma to finish the week with 135 set assists. Moore also accumulated 12 digs, eight kills and seven block assists in 13 total sets on the week.

Hiram junior outside hitter Lindsay Brewer led the Terriers in two 3-1 wins on Saturday against Kenyon and Otterbein in Gambier, Ohio. She recorded 23 kills and a .458 hitting percentage against Kenyon and then tallied 20 kills and an impressive .633 hitting mark against Otterbein. In eight total sets on the day, Brewer smashed 43 kills and accumulated a blistering .526 hitting percentage.

Wittenberg junior Kara Seidenstricker led the ninth-ranked Tigers to a straight-set upset win over defending national champion and top-ranked Calvin as part of a 3-1 weekend at their own Fall Classic in Springfield. Seidenstricker smashed nine kills and recorded a .381 hitting percentage against Calvin and also added 18 kills in a 3-1 win over Ohio Northern. In total, she collected 64 kills (4.0/set), 49 digs, nine blocks (2 solo, 7 asst.) and seven service aces in 16 total sets at the Wittenberg Fall Classic.

Taylor Samuel, Allegheny

Allegheny junior outside hitter Taylor Samuel was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Muhlenberg Buttermaker Tournament after leading the Gators with 60 kills over the two-day stretch, which included a career-high 19-kill performance in the 3-1 win over Shenandoah. The Gators combined to go 3-1 at the tournament, earning wins over Baruch, 3-1, Moravian, 3-0, and Shenandoah.

DePauw junior setter Faith Rolwes shined over the weekend to help the Tigers capture the team title at the Berry College Invitational. In 14 total sets in Georgia, Rolwes accumulated 134 set assists, 37 digs, 25 kills, nine blocks and five service aces. In DPU’s 3-1 upset win over second-ranked Emory on Sunday, Rolwes dished out 34 set assists, fired 11 kills and picked up 10 digs to lead the Tigers. Rolwes was also named the AVCA Div. III National Player of the Week for her performance at the Berry College Invitational.
