Top-seeded Wittenberg successfully defended its North Coast Tournament championship and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship with a 30-17, 30-20, 30-24 decision over Hiram in the championship match. The Tigers claimed their 10th tournament title by sweeping past Denison and the Terriers without dropping a set. Hiram advanced to the final after outlasting Wooster three sets to one in their semifinal matchup. Tournament most valuable player, senior Sarah Yuskewich (Columbus, OH/Watterson) was dominant for the Tigers, registering 45 assists in the final and adding six block assists. Joining her on the all-tournament team were three teammates, seniors Monica McDonald (Newark, OH/Catholic) and Emilie Schmid (Canton, OH/Massillon Jackson) and junior Emily Dixon (Granville, OH/Granville). The Terriers placed two on the all-tournament team: sophomores Jill Howard (Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) and Shana Toth (Mantua., OH/Crestwood). Denison junior Ellen Price (Maple City, MI/Leland) and Wooster junior Mary-Kate Fowkes (Orrville, OH/Orrville) rounded out the squad.

Wittenberg, ranked second in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, will learn their opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday, when complete matchups and site information will be released. The Tigers will now have have eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances; this will be their 10th overall.
