It was an extremely light week on the NCAC Cross Country circuit as DePauw was the only team in action at a dual meet against Rose-Hulman on Friday night. Conference teams resume their schedules this week with five different events on the slate, highlighted by the six Ohio-based teams traveling to Cedarville, Ohio, for the annual All-Ohio Championships.

DEPAUW made the short trip to Terre Haute, Indiana, on Friday night for a dual meet with in-state rival Rose-Hulman. The women’s squad took second of the top eight positions in the individual standings to knock of the Fightin’ Engineers by an 18-45 margin, while the men’s squad logged five top-eight individual finishes en route to a narrow 25-32 victory over RHIT. Senior Claudia Monnett (Cloverdale, IN/Cloverdale) led the Tigers in the 6,000-meter race by breaking the tape in a time of 24.20, while classmate Lois Miller (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) finished second overall in 24.57. On the men’s side, DPU sophomore Paul Christian (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) and junior Polo Burguete (Distrito Federal, Mexico/Culver Acad.) finished 2-3 in the individual standings behind RHIT’s Matt Hill (27.07) with 8,000-meter times of 27:29 and 27:35, respectively.

ALLEGHENY, DENISON, KENYON, OBERLIN, OHIO WESLEYAN, WABASH, WITTENBERG and WOOSTER were all idle last week.
