There was minimal action on the NCAC cross country circuit last week with just one event on the schedule, a dual meet between Denison and Wooster at the Infirmary Mount Park in Granville, Ohio. All nine teams will return to the course this weekend at four different events, highlighted by Oberlin hosting its annual Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.
DENISON hosted WOOSTER last Thursday for a dual meet that saw the Big Red capture a 19-41 victory in the women’s race and the Fighting Scots post a narrow 24-35 victory on the men’s side. The DU women had seven runners finish in the top-10, led by freshman Tommy Solberg (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) breaking the tape on the 4k course with a time of 17:10.9. Big Red freshman Sarah Radziewicz (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) finished second in 17:16.1, while Wooster senior Mackenzie Kellar (Albion, MI/Western) crossed the line third in 17:19.0. On the men’s side, Wooster posted the team win by accounting for seven of the top-10 runners in the individual standings; however, the individual title went to Denison sophomore Benjamin Foster (Westport, CT/Staples) with a winning 4k time of 13:51.8, the only sub 14-minute time in the 30-runner field. Wooster’s leading runner was junior Brian Lief (Shaker Hts., OH/Shaker Hts.) in second-place with a time of 14:00.9.
