CLEVELAND, OH – Defending North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) women's cross country champion Oberlin and two-time defending men's cross country champion DePauw have been tabbed as the favorites to win their respective 2019 conference titles based on pre-championship balloting by league coaches.

The 2019 NCAC Cross Country Championships will be held this Saturday, Nov. 2, at Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana. The men's 8k race will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's 6k race at 12:00 p.m. Wabash is serving as the host for the championships. Click Here to access Wabash's championship site.

The Yeowomen, who have secured nine NCAC titles since 1984, earned all eight first-place votes totaling 64 points. Allegheny secured the second position compiling 56 points and is aiming for its league-leading 15th cross country title. Kenyon checked in at third with 48 points, while DePauw was slotted fourth (39) and Wooster fifth (31). The final three spots in the poll were occupied by Denison (24), Ohio Wesleyan (17) and Wittenberg (9).

The DePauw men look for their third championship since joining the conference for the 2011 season. The Tigers received all nine first-place votes totaling the maximum 81 points. Denison was voted second, receiving 69 points, and is looking for its fifth NCAC title in program history. Allegheny was tabbed third with 60 points, while Ohio Wesleyan (55) and Wabash (50) rounded out the top half of the field. Kenyon (33), Oberlin (29), Wooster (15) and Wittenberg (13) finished out the nine-team field.

Six of the top-10 women's finishers from 2018 return for this season's championships. Allegheny senior Mica Hanish (Baden, PA/Ambridge) is the top-returning finisher, netting fourth a season ago. Gator sophomore teammate Sarah Lucas (Charleroi, PA/Ringgold) also joins Hanish after a 10th-place finish last season. Oberlin returns three runners from the top-10 in seniors Oona Jung-Beeman (Wilmette, IL/New Trier), who finished fifth, Marija Crook (Carrboro, NC/Chapel Hill), who finished sixth, and Shannon Wargo (LaGrange, OH/Keystone), who finished eighth. DePauw sophomore and 2018 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, Jenny Noll (LaPorte, IN/LaPorte) returns after a seventh-place finish last year.

On the men's side, DePauw senior Cole Martin (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville), who finished fifth in 2018, is the only top-five finisher from a season ago to return in 2019. He is joined by Kenyon senior Tommy Johnson (Pittsboro, NC/Woods Charter), who took home a ninth-place finish last season. DePauw's Zane Williams (Carmel, IN/Carmel), the 2018 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, also returns after an 11th-place finish a year ago.
