Oberlin junior Sam Fechner bested a field of 14 to win the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 49.96 seconds at the Fighting Scots Invitational on Saturday. Fechner also ran the third leg of the 4x200 relay that clocked in at 1:31.01, which broke the Oberlin program record. The Hamburg, Germany native currently ranks third in the NCAC in the 400, while the Yeomen own the fastest 4x200 in the conference.
