Denison junior Maia Nowicki went 5-1 over the weekend at the Midwest Invitational, competing at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights in singles and No. 3 flight in doubles alongside first-year Maddie Larsen (Maple Grove, MN/Maple Grove Senior). Nowicki swept her singles matches, defeating North Central (6-1, 6-3), Grinnell (6-4, 6-4), and Gustavus (6-1, 6-3), while going 2-1 in doubles with wins over North Central (6-3) and Grinnell (6-3) before falling 7-6 (10-4) in the final. The Big Red knocked off two ranked opponents, No. 47 North Central (7-0) and No. 38 Grinnell (4-3), before falling to No. 33 Gustavus (5-2) in the championship match.
