OWU's West Named Scholar All-American by United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, MO - Ohio Wesleyan senior defender Brady West (Dublin, OH/Columbus St. Charles) was named to the United Soccer Coaches 2024 Division III Men's Scholar All-America First-Team following an All-Region First-Team selection, announced Friday, December 19th.

West earned his second consecutive United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America selection after being named to the first-team on December 20. The senior also earned a second-team nod in 2023. The 2024 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year was a starter on an Ohio Wesleyan defense that ranked second in the NCAC in fewest goals allowed (19) and scoring margin (+1.50 goals/game).  On the offensive end, West contributed a goal and was tied for 22nd in the NCAC in assists (3). In the classroom, West studies Finance and Economics and has maintained a 3.66 GPA.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 12-5-3 overall record and went 6-0-2 in NCAC play. The Battling Bishops earned a share of the NCAC title which earned them the top seed in the NCAC Tournament. The Bishops received an at-large bid to their NCAA-record 45th Division III tournament appearance. Ohio Wesleyan advanced to the second round of the NCAA men's soccer tournament.

The Scholar All-America Team consisted of 43 student-athletes from around the nation, and the honorees were split into three teams. To be considered for the Scholar All-America teams, one must play for a current United Soccer Coaches College Services member, be a junior or above in athletic standing, be in their second year at the current institution if a transfer student, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.4 or better, play a minimum of 75 percent of games during the season of nomination, and be an elite player as supported by playing honors.
