Kenyon Women’s Tennis Claims NCAA First Round Win

No. 24 ranked Kenyon (15-6) claimed a 5-1 victory over No. 49 Luther (19-6) in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. The win advances the Owls into the second round, which will be played Friday, May 10. Kenyon will take on No. 20 Sewanee at Washington University in Saint Louis at 3:00 p.m.
 
Kenyon took a 2-1 lead over Luther after doubles, as Allaire Berl (Westport, MA/Saint Andrews School (DE)) and Eleni Lazaridou (Veroia, Greece/4th Lyceum of Veria) won 8-3 at the No. 1 flight and Eleni Dakos (Towaco, NJ/Newark Academy) and Shadia Amado Aguad (Arequipa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Presco) took an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Ana Brand (Aschaffenburg, Germany/Friedrich-Dessauer-Gymnasium) and Lalasa Nagireddy (Dublin, OH/Dublin Jerome) fell to Luther's Riley O'Donell and Abby Ostermann in a tough 8-7 match up at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, Lazaridou recorded 6-0, 6-1 victories for the first singles win, while Berl tallied her own 6-1, 6-1 victories to give the Owls the team victory.
 
Kenyon heads into the second round of play with a 34-21 record in the NCAA Tournament. Washington University in St. Louis will also host the team championships finals, which will be held May 21-24 at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Student-athletes selected to the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 8.
