DePauw's Bruder, Wooster's Hammer Named Campbell Trophy Semifinalists

CLEVELAND, OH – DePauw senior Jonathan Bruder (Centerville, OH/Centerville) and Wooster senior Andrew Hammer (Uniontown, OH/Lake) were among the record breaking 203 semifinalists for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell Trophy, as announced by the organization on Wednesday morning. 
 
Bruder is a biochemistry major and is a third-year starter for DePauw. Through three games, the two-time All-NCAC honoree has amassed 15 tackles, including 14 solo tackles. Throughout his career so far, the linebacker has totaled 167 tackles in 35 games. In 2022, Bruder led the Tigers’ defense after he notched 77 tackles in 11 games. Of his 77 tackles, 38 were solo stops and 39 were assisted. Academically, Bruder has made the Dean’s List six times and the NCAC Academic Honor Roll both years he was eligible.
 
Hammer, in his third year as a starter, has 116 yards on 14 catches with one touchdown through three games in 2024. Over his career, Hammer has amassed 979 yards and 11 touchdowns on 76 receptions. His best year was in 2023, when the then-junior ranked second on the team with 477 receiving yards after hauling in 39 passes, seven of which went for touchdowns. Academically, Hammer is a classical studies and economics double major and has been named a College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® selection twice and qualified for Wooster's Athletic Director's Honor Roll both semesters it has been awarded. The four-year standout is a two-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.
 
The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 23, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2024 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The finalists will travel to the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 10, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports. Live during the event, one member of the class will be declared as the winner of the 35th Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000. Each school is permitted to nominate one student-athlete each year for consideration for the Campbell Trophy and NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class.
