Field Hockey – Therese Lucian, Denison
Denison sophomore goalkeeper Therese Lucian (Mickleton, NJ/Towe Hill School (DE)) anchored the Big Red defense in Saturday's battle of conference unbeatens, making three saves in a 3-0 win at DePauw. Lucian played all 60 minutes, recording her fourth consecutive shutout in goal, as Denison held a DePauw offense that was averaging 2.1 goals per game scoreless. The Big Red are the only NCAC team that remains undefeated in league play.
Football (Offense) – Tyren Montgomery, John Carroll
John Carroll graduate wide receiver Tyren Montgomery (Woodlands, TX/Woodlands) helped guide the Blue Streaks to a 44-7 victory at Wittenberg on Saturday. Montgomery finished with 12 receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns, hauling in a 27-yard score early in the second quarter and adding a 16-yard touchdown later in the half to give John Carroll a 30-0 lead at the break.
Football (Defense) – Michael Kerr, Kenyon
Kenyon junior linebacker Michael Kerr (Cleveland, OH/St. Edward) led the Owls' defense in a 57-2 win at Oberlin on Saturday. The junior recorded six tackles, including two sacks, while adding an interception and a fumble recovery. Kerr set career highs in both sacks and interceptions while helping the Kenyon defense force five turnovers, record 13 tackles for loss, and hold the Yeomen to just 69 yards of total offense.
Men's Golf – Andrew Hahn, Kenyon
Kenyon first-year Andrew Hahn (Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY/US Performance Academy) led the Owls at the Wabash Fall Invitational with a 14th-place finish in a field of 96 golfers. Competing at the par-72, 6,094-yard Broadmoor Country Club, Hahn opened with back-to-back rounds of 72 on Monday, highlighted by five birdies in each round. He closed with a final-round 72 on Tuesday, carding two birdies and two bogeys for his third straight even-par performance. For the tournament, Hahn tied for eighth in both par-5 scoring (4.42) and total birdies (12), helping Kenyon to a fifth-place team finish among 18 programs.
Women's Golf – Becky Williams, Denison
DePauw senior Becky Williams (Zionsville, IN/University High School of Indiana) delivered a strong showing at the Carnegie Mellon Tartan Invitational, held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Competing on the 5,663-yard, par-72 course, Williams shot a three-under-par 141 (72-69) to finish tied for ninth in the 54-player field. The senior finished four under on par-5s to tie for second among all competitors in par-5 scoring.
Men's Soccer – Braden Murphey, DePauw
DePauw junior forward Braden Murphey (South Bend, IN/Penn) scored a hat trick in Saturday's 3-0 win over John Carroll, marking his first three goals of the season. The junior found the back of the net twice within the opening 18 minutes and added a third goal in the 73rd minute to seal the victory. Murphey added an assist in DePauw's 4-1 win over Wabash, totaling seven points across two conference victories.
Women's Soccer – Emma West, John Carroll
John Carroll senior midfielder/forward Emma West (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) scored her first goal of the season in the 69th minute to lift the Blue Streaks to a 2-1 victory over Wooster on Saturday. Assisted by senior defender Kathryn Shaffer (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day), West converted her lone shot on goal to help John Carroll remain unbeaten in NCAC play.
Men's Swimming & Diving – Leo Powers, Oberlin
Oberlin senior Leo Powers (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) made an early-season statement at the Oberlin Early Invite, breaking a school record and collecting multiple top-three finishes. The senior set a new program record in the 100 individual medley with a time of 52.48, while also placing third in the 100 butterfly (50.85) and eighth in the 200 IM (1:58.22). He contributed to four top-three relay performances as well, helping Oberlin to second-place finishes in the 200- (1:25.40) and 800- (7:05.86) free relays, along with third-place efforts in the 400 medley (3:29.21) and 400 free (3:10.71) relays.
Women's Swimming & Diving – Nadia Milovich, Kenyon
Kenyon sophomore diver Nadia Milovich (Westlake, OH/Westlake) turned in a strong weekend with a pair of top-five finishes at the Don Leas Diving Invitational and two top-ten results at the Clarion Diving Fall Classic. Competing against NCAA Division II divers from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Drury University, Duquesne University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Milovich placed fifth in both the 1-meter (362.75) and 3-meter (405.15) events at the Don Leas Invite. The sophomore followed with seventh-place finishes on the 1-meter (201.60) and 3-meter (209.10) boards at the Clarion Diving Fall Classic.
Volleyball – Natalie Glowe, John Carroll
John Carroll junior outside hitter Natalie Glowe (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) recorded a double-double with a season-tying best 18 kills to go along with 17 digs in a 3-1 home win over Denison on Saturday. Glowe committed just one error on 38 attempts for a .447 hitting percentage while adding three assists and two aces, helping the Blue Streaks stay unbeaten in conference play.
Milestones & Records (Oct. 5-12)
Kenyon, Football – Junior wide receiver Brendan Comerford (Moraga, CA/Campolindo) set multiple career highs in Kenyon's 57-2 win over Oberlin. The junior led all receivers with six catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns, marking career bests in yards, touchdowns, and longest reception (53) … As a team, Kenyon posted season highs in total offense (448 yards), rushing yards (175), and both rushing and passing touchdowns (four each).
Ohio Wesleyan, Football – Sophomore wide receiver Austin Koslow (Delaware, OH/Hayes) recorded a career-high 100 receiving yards on just two catches in the Battling Bishops' game against Wabash. His performance was highlighted by a 79-yard touchdown reception from quarterback senior Chanden Lee (Barberton, OH/Barberton), marking Ohio Wesleyan's longest offensive play of the season … Junior linebacker Grant Johnson (Dalton, OH/Dalton) recorded a career-high 20 tackles, including eight solo stops, in OWU's matchup with Wabash. The junior's 20 tackles mark the most by an Ohio Wesleyan player in a single game this season.
Ohio Wesleyan, Men's Soccer – Senior forward Tristan Ruiz de Somocurcio (Tampa, FL/Tampa Preparatory) recorded his second brace of the season, scoring the first and third goals in Ohio Wesleyan's 3-2 win over Wittenberg. The two-goal performance matched his single-game career high and brought his season total to a personal-best five goals.
Wabash, Football – Senior linebacker Gavin Ruppert (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) climbed to fifth place on Wabash's all-time tackles list on Saturday, reaching 301 career stops during the Little Giants' 44-27 win over Ohio Wesleyan. Ruppert finished the game with five tackles, including one solo and four assisted.
