North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week | October 21, 2025

Men’s Cross Country – Ian Paul, John Carroll
John Carroll sophomore Ian Paul (Massillon, OH/Canton Central Catholic) finished second overall out of 223 runners at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble with a time of 25:32.5. The sophomore completed the 8,000-meter course with both his fastest time and highest individual finish of the season, helping the Blue Streaks to a fifth-place team finish in the 26-team field.

Women’s Cross Country – Anna Brown, Kenyon
Kenyon senior Anna Brown (South Dartmouth, MA/Concord Academy) logged a third-place finish out of 213 runners at the Oberlin Regional Rumble on Saturday. The senior completed the shortened 6,000-meter run in 21:49.70, recording a season-best time and helping Kenyon to a 10th-place team finish in the 25-team field.

Field Hockey – Mary Powers, Ohio Wesleyan
Ohio Wesleyan sophomore forward Mary Powers (Centreville, VA/Chantilly) scored the lone goal of the game in the 17th minute to lift the Battling Bishops to a 1-0 win over Denison on Tuesday. The sophomore’s game-winning goal, assisted by senior forward Emma Wright (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), helped Ohio Wesleyan remain in contention for the NCAC title.

Football (Offense) – Tyren Montgomery, John Carroll
John Carroll graduate wide receiver Tyren Montgomery (Woodlands, TX/Woodlands) caught 12 passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Streaks to a 31-27 road win over No. 11/9 DePauw on Saturday. The graduate student found the end zone on receptions of 18, 17, and four yards, including the game-winning score with just 14 seconds remaining. With his performance, Montgomery moved into a tie for second all-time in John Carroll history with 27 career touchdown catches.

Football (Defense) – Isaac LaFay, Wooster
Wooster junior defensive lineman Isaac LaFay (Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) preserved the Fighting Scots’ 24-20 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday with a hit at the 2-yard line that forced a victory-saving fumble. The ball was recovered in the end zone by senior linebacker Brandon Torres (Orange, CA/Tustin) with 19 seconds remaining. LaFay finished the day with three tackles and three quarterback hurries.

Men’s Golf – Mikey Schutte, Wittenberg
Wittenberg sophomore Mikey Schutte (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) tied for second overall at the GolfWeek October Classic, helping the Tigers to a runner-up team finish in a 24-team field that featured eight nationally ranked programs and five receiving votes. Competing on a par-71, 6,606-yard course, the sophomore posted rounds of 71 (E), 72 (+1), and 64 (-7) for a three-round total of 207, finishing six under par. Schutte’s final-round 64 established a new Wittenberg record for the lowest individual round in program history. In addition, his 136 (72-64) tied for the fifth-lowest two-round score in school history, while his three-round total tied for the fourth-lowest mark. As a team, Wittenberg set program records for the lowest single-round score (273) and the lowest three-round total (851).

Men’s Soccer – Braden Murphey, DePauw
DePauw junior forward Braden Murphey (South Bend, IN/Penn) scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute of regulation to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over No. 2 Denison on Wednesday. The junior tallied two shots in the win, placing one on goal for a .500 shot percentage. The win handed the Big Red their first loss of the season and moved the Tigers to the top of the NCAC standings with a 3-0-2 conference record.

Women’s Soccer – Addie Allgeier, DePauw
DePauw sophomore midfielder Addie Allgeier (Fishers, IN/Fishers) scored the game-winning goal in the 34th minute of regulation to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday. The sophomore recorded one shot on goal in the match, finishing with a 1.000 shot percentage. The win handed the Battling Bishops their first conference loss of the season and improved the Tigers to 2-2 in NCAC play.

Men’s Swimming & Diving – Djordje Dragojlovic, Kenyon
Kenyon senior Djordje Dragojlovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Nada Dimic) led the Owls to a 212-84 dual meet victory over John Carroll on Saturday, collecting four first-place finishes. The senior swept the freestyle sprint events, winning the 50 in 20.20 and the 100 in 45.23. Dragojlovic also anchored the 200-medley (1:30.06) and 400-free (3:03.11) relays that both finished first.

Women’s Swimming & Diving – Gwen Eisenbeis, Kenyon
Kenyon senior Gwen Eisenbeis (Okemos, MI/Williamston) helped lead the Owls to a 246-52 dual meet victory over John Carroll on Saturday, earning two first-place finishes. Eisenbeis won the 50 freestyle in 23.88 and led off Kenyon’s winning 200-medley relay, which touched first in 1:42.39.

Volleyball – Mary Sulfridge, Wittenberg
Wittenberg sophomore setter Mary Sulfridge (South Charleston, OH/Southeastern) recorded a match-leading 52 assists in the Tigers’ five-set victory over No. 20 Otterbein on Saturday. Her performance ranks fourth in program history for assists in a single match, regardless of match length. Sulfridge distributed 13 assists in the first set, 11 in the second, 10 in the third, 11 in the fourth, and eight in the decisive fifth set, including back-to-back assists to secure the 16-14 final. The setter also added two kills, 12 digs, and two blocks while averaging 10.4 assists per set in the win.

Milestones & Records (Oct. 13-19)

Denison, Football – Sophomore quarterback Tyler Green (Concord, NC/Cannon) set a program record with 40 completions in Denison’s 43-40 victory over Wittenberg on Saturday. Green finished 40-of-56 passing for 409 yards and four touchdowns. 

Ohio Wesleyan, Women’s Cross Country – Junior Zoe Ward (Columbus, OH/Worthington Christian) led the Battling Bishops at the Connecticut College Invitational, finishing 31st out of 271 runners with a season-best time of 21:35.62. The junior guided the Battling Bishops to a 17th-place team finish in a competitive field that included 16 nationally ranked programs.

Wabash, Football – Senior kicker Brody Rucker (Haskell, OK/Coweta) moved into second place on Wabash’s career list for made extra points after converting six PATs in Saturday’s game against Kenyon. Rucker has now made 129 career extra points, surpassing Ian MacDougall for second all-time in program history.

Wooster, Men’s Soccer – The Fighting Scots earned their 10th win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over John Carroll on Wednesday. With the victory, Wooster reached double-digit wins for the first time since 2006.
