DePauw junior kicker
Matthew Berry (Jacksonville, FL/Bolles School) and sophomore defensive lineman
Chris Green (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) , and John Carroll graduate student wide receiver
Tyren Montgomery (Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands College Park) were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, announced Tuesday, October 21.

Montgomery led No. 14/15 John Carroll to a 31-27 road win over No. 9/11 DePauw on Saturday, catching 12 passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns. The graduate student found the end zone on receptions of 18, 17, and four yards, including the game-winning score with just 14 seconds remaining. Montgomery’s efforts moved him into a tie for second all-time in John Carroll history with 27 career touchdown catches.

Berry connected on both field goal attempts and his lone extra-point in DePauw’s tough four-point loss to John Carroll. His 51-yard field goal was the longest by a DePauw kicker since
Tom Downham’s program-record 54-yarder in 1987. It also marked the fourth-longest field goal in school history, the longest since the NCAA eliminated kicking tees in 1989, and is tied for the fourth-longest in Division III this season.

Green anchored DePauw’s defensive front with four solo tackles and one assist, including 3.0 tackles for loss totaling 14 yards against John Carroll. Two of those tackles for loss were sacks for a combined 10 yards. He helped the Tigers, who lead all levels of NCAA football in both rushing and total defense, limit the Blue Streaks to just 39 rushing yards and 1.7 yards per carry.

This is the 27th season that D3football.com has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week. This marks the second week that the NCAC has received selections.
