John Carroll to Face Carleton in NCAA Women's Soccer First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - John Carroll (13-5-1) claimed its first North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament title with a 1-0 victory over Denison (9-5-5) on Sunday, November 9, in University Heights, Ohio. As NCAC tournament champions, the Blue Streaks earned the NCAC's automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. John Carroll will be making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2023, and third overall.
 
The Blue Streaks will open play in Lake Forest, Illinois, with a first-round game against Carleton (16-2-2) on Saturday, November 15, at 2:30 p.m. The Knights, making their third-straight and sixth overall appearance in the national tournament, earned the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. This will be the first meeting on the pitch for John Carroll and Carleton. The winner of the Blue Streaks/Knights first-round contest will move on to face the winner of host Lake Forest (20-0-0) versus Spalding (14-4-2) on Sunday, November 16, in the second round at 2:00 p.m.
 
Led by 14th-year head coach Michael Marich, John Carroll has gotten strong offensive performances this season from senior Emily Patrzyk (Twinsburg, OH/Twinsburg) and first-year Brooke Berkowitz (Avon Lake, OH/Saint Joseph Academy). Patrzyk has a team-leading 20 points off eight goals and four assists, while Berkowitz has the second most goals with seven. On the defensive side of the ball, junior goalkeeper Madeline Martin (Huntsburg, OH/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) has logged 1478:51 minutes between the posts, making 72 saves and allowing just 11 goals for a minuscule 0.67 goals-against average.
